Let the number speak, why Level 220 is extremely high

There is some argument about CWA's level requirement. People are arguing whether level 220 high or low.

I would like to provide some numbers about the levels, you can jump into summary if you dont like to read the calculation

1. XP requirement for each level : 105 * n * 5 where n is the level requirement
2. Total XP required for Level 220: : (105 * (220 + 2) /2 -5) * (220 - 2 + 1) = 2,551,350
3. Total XP required for Level 130: : (105 * (130 + 2) /2 -5) * (130 - 2 + 1) = 893,325
4. XP for Road (Lv 7, IA) : 355 +470 +470 +760 + 1115 + 1260 = 4430
5. XP from Road in AA : 4430 * 120 = 531,600
6 XP from Road in IA : 4430 * 100 = 443,000

and put it in table

Now it is clear that, With Consideration of "bug" XP from road, you need more than 4 times of XP for Cold War compared with Global.
And the result match my experience: I upgraded into GA after 8 month of play with level 150+, but after almost 2 years of playing I still need almost 300K xp to 220

Now, let's look into the speed of XP gain:
I do a rough scan of XP given by different item, there is a rough summary:
1. Early age upgrade will give more XP in unit time
2. each black Smith slot provided about 200XP per day: items prior IA give around 300 per day, while IA or later give less 200 per day.
3 each worker will provided about 130 XP per day, same as 2,items prior IA give more, while IA or later give less 200 per day.
4 Lib resarch will give around 500 to 600 per day
5 University give no XP

In general, there will be around 3000xp if you got 12 workers doing upgrade, 3500 while you got 16 workers to upgrade building

And now we can see why level 220 is an extremely high threshold:
For player, who put 4 worker in university and 12 doing upgrade, he will need 673 day, or 22 month to reach level 220.
And in the mean time, his workers need to work non-stop

Cold War Required level 220, 22 months required. the more workers you put in university, the harder to reach
And level 220 is not reachable for a player joined after Jan 2016 unless a decent amount of money paid

the main reason am not meeting the lvl requirement is putting 30-50% of my workers in university for no exp

the only way to catch up when CWA is released is to upgrade my roads cuz I didn't upgrade them since IA or GA (don't remember) but that's gonna increase my alliance average level with no extra firepower or defense increase

i guess the fair lvl should have been 200 or something cuz 220 is too high for many players

For WW purposes, strength is calculated superatlety, not based on XP but purely on offensive and defensive capabilities, so i guess upgrading roads won't make a difference in your WW strength assessment.

Level 220 will finally stop rushing and as such, the size of the abandoned base graveyard will be smaller. But hell, I don't really care as I am pretty close to reaching 220 :) Month or 2 at the worst :D

When your alliance is in the leader board, the strength is mainly depend on how many sandbag you put.

If you dont put any sandbag, it will be similar pool non matter your avg level is 210 or 220

University upgrades should really give XP. Most of the university upgrades take such a long time for a small increase each upgrade. Most uogrades are around a 3% increase (which is hardly an increase) with a long wait time. They should really give XP for university upgrades...

@SiuYin Excellent post! I wish the did sth about it but there are many complaints from players who already reached this threshold against lowering it. Without reasonable arguments in my opinion. They should promote this, in the contrary, because more rushed bases offer more easy bases and better and more various attacking opportunities, I can't believe they don't understand this. No problem for myself, I have great deal of work to do going from 182 to 220 but, still, I'll pretty much enjoy raiding those easy AA bases of around 140 XP.

CWA will not be a problem, there still easy Atomic.
But later age (if any) will be a disaster to fight with 220+ bases

good to know but still dunno why top alliances use bases with 0 economic buildings and max offense capability as a mid range sandbags, their defenses are also of industrial-global level, looks like they r trading the defense scale with offense in these bags to generally have more offense on them taking down opponent top bases

I don't mind the level requirement, but that is partly because I've got a lvl 220 base right now personally. I spent most of my time upgrading my oil wells to cash in on those production buffs with massive passive oil + maxed out my traps and upgrade my road to atomic age. I feel like, down the road, if population issue is a thing for CWA players then a CWA rush should include some faster upgrade times for Atomics.

i wouldnt have minded the level req if only university research gave xp, even just a little.

i use most of my workers on university researches most of the time and i can both attack and defend better than a lot of 220-level but apparently Im a rusher who shouldnt go to CWA?

Why would anyone want to go up, just for some different toys and a small increase in DPS or HP? While upgrade times likely have their normal increase?
And not only do you not get any new buildings but some event buildings will disappear maybe in less than a week?
Where's the incentive?

1) Upgrade times are increased by a day/day and a half for the most part. Almost the same as atomic times;
2) 10-20% increases for offense and 20-30% increases for defense are not small increases;
3) New units might prove useful, might not prove useful, remains to be seen.

Either way, if someone is at the required level to go to CWA, he has all the important things done. The only thing that remains to be lost is access to Global players (and even that is currently not true, remains to be seen if bug or intentional), which could affect NTG gain negatively because of silos. The rush events will probably supply the atomic age with a lot of rushed players that the new supersonic fighters will just chew up.

I hope it's a bug, I don't feel like GBA players are meant to compete with high Atomics (and once they start upgrading CWA, it'll get worse in terms of imbalance).

The first impact of CWA to us is World War.
Our defender are in the level 220+, Level threshold is fine for them,
But our attackers are in the level range 200 - 210, which means our attacker will only be able to go into CWA 3 months later

This put our alliance in a difficult situations, now we need to stop war until our attackers catch up
