Why do we have to buy an event pass to unlock rewards?

I generally like the newer format for weekly events and challenges, however with this Halloween event I see "buy an event pass to unlock" on the first challenge for each day. Is this going to be a new theme where every event has to have a purchase associated to earn the daily reward? If so, this is ridiculous, as why should I pay $29.99 each week when I put in more time than before completing each quest.

I have read some other posts regarding this game and charging, but for younger players (I just went Atomic) the daily rewards really help such as speed ups, and troops especially during the atomic rush. I will not continue to play as much if everything is going to be monetized.

I watch the ads everyday, I've visited the offerwall and earned thousands of crowns on other games, so just because I dont spend money on your game, doesn't mean I haven't contributed in other forms financially. Example - I have seen ads for Mazda everyday for the last month! Any thoughts welcomed!

Have you been tempted to buy a Mazda?

I recall Muet saying how he was excited to release the new events to us, more like : excited to see how stupid we are in falling for their new money grabbing schemes. Total P2W.

I haven’t participated in any of the events since the first one and if their boring ideas such as train planes/heavy tanks or use 80 hours of speed ups or last event stage in sending expeditions (not possible to complete) continue then that first event was my last event.

I find the event passes to be one of the better ways to spend money on the game. The current one was a bit expensive, but for 30 USD I will get 2 buildings, 29 armies, 40 wall manuals, 9 days of speed ups, 650 supplies, and 250 crowns. Plus a much better position on the leaderboard and the associated rewards for that.

As for the goals, they are making me try different strategies. Train 90 fighters when I normally lose 1 or 2 per day? Use them to raid oil refineries. Hire 24 mercenaries when I normally only use them for war attacks? Combine it with the purchase blessings goal, place animal blessings and recruit soldiers of fortune. It makes a nice change from my usual grind.

Wheelie, those rewards you refer too are for the people who buy the pass. Do you think everything in life is available to you just because you showed up?

That’s crazy. Game items are only worth something because people make it worth something. Do you seriously think this is worth half the price of an AAA game? You know, not a mobile game? I was fine with spending $15, but this is ridiculous. The wall manuals are useless, the armies are ephemeral (you get ONE game of use out of each of them, when most of them aren’t game-changing and even then winning one game means absolutely nothing in terms of resources, medals, or anything), the speed-ups are okay but not worth $30, supplies are meh, and crowns are fine, I guess. And the building troops are pretty much useless, at least for me. I literally use every single building I have just for the 5 extra foot soldiers, but hey, maybe it’s different at higher ages.

Persia, please take my comment in the context of someone who spends money on this game. I am in an alliance that is reasonably serious about war, and to be competitive I need stronghold armies, so I buy them when they are about $1 each for good ones. Notice I said I need them. I know there are players out there who can win war battles against any base without them, but I don’t want to get into that discussion here.

as for the other rewards, yes the wall manuals are not worth much, but the supplies are to me. And the crowns and speed ups are very valuable, particularly for when I advance to Digital Age. Yes, I will be one of those players that advances as soon as it is released. That is something I want to do, and I won’t (can’t lol) justify it, nor do I want to discuss how it makes the game P2W, etc.

I absolutely agree that the price of the pass for this event is pushing the limit of what is reasonable. I too would like to see the price drop back to $15, especially if there is little time between events. With the old events I was happy to sit one out occasionally, but the new event format is much more compelling, especially because of the leaderboards.

It's good that you benefit from the events but doesn't 'makes a nice change' only mean a grind of a different kind?

Tommie, I'm actually referring too "complete all goals in stage to earn rewards" which in past events, each day didn't always have a tie-in with buying an event pass. Some days you could complete 5 of 5 goals and earn the daily reward chest without having to buy an event pass. With this Halloween event, everyday so far has been tied to purchasing an event pass to unlock the daily reward.

As far as showing up...that would be someone who just logs in and collects loot or drop offs during events without participating in wars or solo campaigns. We are talking about a game...not real life.
