Upgrading your castle gets you access to better generals. At L8 you can unlock Zhukov which is one of the top generals in the game. I would not consider advice from someone who is still Industrial Age at L147 - the age when you should be pushing for Atomic to unlock even more offensive options.

Cougar suggest only upgrading offence that you use - there is no need to waste time on items you'll never use such as mortar troops and some of the coalitions (unless you need the XP to age up).

if you are looking for more action, look to age up and move to Enlightenment and then Industrial as soon as your offence is maxed.

If you’re that dissatisfied with the game, why don’t you uninstall and quit. Museum is a real grind until you get to SA, certainly can get a pretty decent one with-out spending $.

As long as your offence is maxed (for what you use) make the jump to Space Age during the upcoming rush event - and continue follow the suggestions here such as watching replays, trying friendly challenges, etc.

every comment you post seems to be about making the game easier for you or something that you are not satisfied with, never balanced with anything positive. If the game is that unsatisfactory for you, suggest you delete the app.
