Yes, something needs to be done. I support both the 2nd and 3rd solutions, preferably both. Hell, the first solution could be added as well, but it's not realistic to expect enough players to switch for it to be a viable solution by itself.

They never said when it would come out, but considering "coming soon" and "postponed indefinitely" have basically the same effect you can look at it however you want. I have never experienced anyone, especially not game devs, answering the question of when "soon" is.

It would be the same as you buying a TV at retail price, then it goes on sale a week/month/whatever later. Or for a digital product comparison; you buy a steam game that goes on sale at a later date. It happens, no reason to get butthurt about it. Not that I would even pay $20 for it anyway.
