So a lot has been said about 5-star attacks becoming a big achievement. But any mmo-game consists of various groups of players: some are very good in attacking, some are just good and some are weak. A successful multiplayer game should be able to offer fun and challenge to every category, and the current 5-star system doesn’t do that. I think that developers are trying to do impossible - if a victory is easy, common players are happy, hardcore are bored, if hard - hardcore are happy, but common players are not. Something has been said about Wow - they started with top raids being available to only about 5% of their player base, but they changed it completely. Last time I was there they had 4 different difficulty levels for each boss, and everybody could select a proper challenge for himself. It’s obvious for me that 5-star system is too narrow instrument to give fun to everybody. Maybe it would be good to switch to 10-star system with weak defenses. First five stars are the usual ones, additional five are for those who try to perfect their attack and are based on attack time - the faster you destroy a base, the more additional stars you get. This way everybody is satisfied: common players do their normal 4-5 stars attacks on the bases of their level and get their armies back with resources needed, hardcore players compete for additional stars using all their skills (and troop cards). This system can be implemented in WWs, I will not discuss how - it’s a complicated move in logic and coding, and there are a lot of ways. But there is no easy way of giving interest and fun to everybody and achieve success.
