A comment for the way updates are released

Hello there,

Devs, this is addressed to you directly. Sorry if it's a little long.

I was very happy for this upcoming update and still quite happy about the changes. But the way it was put into action ruined this for me and others in my alliance...
So, when the update was released, of course the game mechanics were completely changed. This was, for us, at the time of about 2 hours left in a major risk war. We went really strong and had a good chance to win with basically 2 more tough bases to go. But once the update was released, we couldn't attack enemy bases until we updated as well. Now, because of different time zones/schedules, our strongest attacks were yet to come in the end of the war, while the enemy got them in earlier. This created a totally lopsided situation where we had a great chance to win, but the update totally screwed us from the chance of doing so. With the AR nerf (which I do like), there was absolutely no way to compete with attacks that were put in by the enemy before the update and the nerf.

So, my honest request from you:
1. Please, please (this one is really not so difficult) and please, do not ignore or respond 'soon' when players ask you, when the update is releasing. If you had told us, at least a time frame of a day of when it is releasing, we would have prepared for the change, or hold off on World War altogether for that day. In the way it was done, it is a big screaming screw you to the players who care the most about the game, warring every day.

2. Please let ongoing wars finish without forcing us for an update mid way. How is such a major change expected to not affect the results of wars? Thid is mind boggling to me that you do not care even that little about the goals of players. When the devs don't care, who cares at all?
This one might be a little more difficult I assume, but hence point 1. When 2. is not possible: let. us. know. about. the. release date.

Sorry if this became a little emotional, but this slap in the face with the results and the taking of such a position by the devs, really made me consider quitting the game for good... If that is your goal with all players eventually, this might be a good approach of communication. If you'd like to keep players (and bring in new ones), I suggest a different approach, or hiring some new staff. This is truly unacceptable, in my opinion.

Everybody else has an ongoing war each time an update is released. That always happens in every update.
You expect the update must follow everybody's war schedule? I have an idea, buy Nexon's shares first

Updates are generally always on a Tuesday and we knew this was coming. hence everyone in our alliance was aware that the impending change was almost certainly due yesterday...bear this in mind in future guys!

I didn't say anything about following our/everybody's schedule. I said either let us know when the update is being rolled out, or allow us to finish our attacks without updating. Point 1 and 2.

John, yes, that's true, and we did think about that. But this has not always been so consistent. And the announcement was made just last week... since there was no sign of how many Tuesdays from there it'll take, we didn't know for sure it would be now. And again, seriously, if it really is that consistent, what would it take for TinSoldier or somebody else to specify, ok, this Tuesday is update...? That's it. That's all it takes. Then we can plan with that... Otherwise we're not gonna hold the entire alliance from playing when we don't even know if it's coming or not...

i thought WW bases dont take into account any changes made after the war day started. so i dont know why an unupdated person cant attack a base that updated after the war day started..

and also, are forced updates different for everyone? i was forced to update but there are still many people that havent

Depends on region and store. I think Asia server has received force update, cause update in Asia version always came before international version.

That was the problem, if the opponent has updated the game then we couldn't attack them. They really should remove this restriction.

Sure, make it so that any new wars started after the release must be with people who updated. But not an ongoing war... without any notification... that is just f@cked up. Especially when they know it's a change that will affect wars to this magnitude.

And I'm not really saying this for this specific war, I got over that already (even if pissed off). But for the future, please just be more transparent. Let us know the update date.

If they have updated it before war day starts, then you can't attack them unless you update as well. If they update after war day starts, you can still attack them (their war base is still locked at the war start version). At least that is how it was the entire time I played. It would be interesting if they changed that

It must have changed; the update was rolled out well into the middle of the war. (And even if in Asia it was rolled out earlier for our opponents, those guys haven't immediately updated, because their initial attacks, just like ours, were still with the OP assault rally)

It just seems very random, some players reported not being forced to update, but some others were. And we could definitely not attack a base that was of a player who updated their game. This restriction is evil and pointless, war bases don't change during war day...

Anyway, this I can actually understand if it's something difficult to implement, letting players in ongoing wars finish the attacks unupdated; but if they force us to update midway, then let us know the damn time of the update, so that we can plan with it. That's my only request...
