I just opened 10tank chest. On only 2 did I get tanks. The rest were blessings and merc cards. Since the merc cards are random, I can’t use the for war, so the are nearly useless. I can’t see any incentive to ever buy a chest again.

That sucks big time. I think pretty much the new rule of thumb is only troop chests are worth anything everything else isn’t worth the risk. The fact that they are tank chest should mean you get a damn tank in every one though

This is exactly why EA has gotten into very hot water with loot boxes. It is gambling at the least and bait and switch at the worst. $10 for damn blessings when you clearly advertise it as a TANK chest? BHG can take the chests...ALL of them and shove em.

BHG has still yet to comply with the Apple requirement of disclosing loot box odds. I don't know what the deadline is imposed by Apple, but I guess a player will have to sue to see any action from BHG? They certainly haven't responded yet. Maybe not sue, but complain to Apple until they remove it from the store, and that will certainly get their attention. BHG is not following the rules at the moment.

Perhaps you all missed the ''all possible items'' disclaimer when you searched the chest before buying them? Or maybe certain chests yield better odds than others?
I decided to spend my hard earned (12) dollars to do an experiment. Here's what I got from 11 antique chests: (3 items per chest)
1. Kings longbowmen army, metal, cider
2. Voltigeur army, fur, metal
3. Heavy vandals, heavy vandals, leather
4. Shieldmaidens, Kings longbowmen, dicer
5. Guard Chevalier, cider, leather
6. Shieldmaiden, cider, guard chevalier
7. Shieldmaiden, metal, cider
8. Kings longbowmen, cider, leather
9. Voltigeur, cider, metal
10. Voltigeur, cider, cider
11. Voltigeur, cider, metal

That's at least one troop card per chest, not a bad ratio, but a total of 14 troops cards, all CW age.
This one instance might not be enough for a proper test but I can live with these. I have to, since I'm not planning on buying anymore! :D

certain chests definitely have better odds than others. The ancient chest will yield at least 1 elephant archer and 1 elephant siege per chest. Last week's marco ruby chest (forgot what it's called) does not guarantee any troop cards, and almost nobody gets any. Notice that out of 11 chests, you didn't get a single one of the 'good' things they list first.

Again, I wouldn't have a problem with really crappy odds, as long as they tell you what the odds are. As is, each chest have different odds and there is no way to know how likely you are to get the top prize before you buy it. That's why Apple's rule compliance is so important.

Quovatis , ''good'' is a subjective term. To some people it's elephant archers and nothing else.
Actually I'm not sure which of these troops you consider 'good', they're all CW age so I'm not complaining. The Shieldmaidens are awesome!
Fortunately for me, I'm a lot more flexible and forgiving than most. :D

PS: Apple's rule is pandering to the moaning minority. People who want everything handed to them on a silver platter are the people who either don't try hard enough or feel the need to complain about everything. But, that's just my opinion. ;)

Gambling isn't gambling if you don't know the odds...

Not disclosing the odds is shameful.

poop_ , Gambling IS gambling if you don't know the odds.
That's why its called ''gambling''! :D

If you know the odds it would be called ''betting''. :D

What I meant by 'good' is the top prizes listed. You didn't get 5x of any of those cards from one chest, I presume, which are the top prizes listed.

Pretty much all gambling has odds known. Lottery tickets have the odds on the back. Commercial promotions are required to disclose odds. Slot machine odds are required to be disclosed if asked. Card game odds can be calculated. Casinos are regulated so that the owners can't completely scam the customers without them knowing.

'Betting' is different. You can place a bet on a horse with known payouts, but you don't know the odds (although the payout gives an idea of the expected odds).

Anyway, compare all that to loot boxes, where you have zero idea what the odds are. This is unlike anything else.

Quovatis , I still don't know which ones you consider ''top'' prizes from the antique chests. I got a fairly decent spread of troops. It was 3 items per chest and I got 3 items per chest. Some chests gave me 2 troops while the rest all gave me 1 troop. About what I expected.
And thank you for the lesson in gambling but we clearly disagree on many aspects. I think gambling at a casino is no different to gambling at the horses, where you DO know the odds btw. That's why they state odds like ''10 to 1'' or ''73 to 1''. You should visit a betting track someday. :D
I don't have a problem with gambling even though I don't visit casinos or horse tracks or buy lottery cards, etc. Regardless of whether the odds are disclosed, they are NEVER in our favour and complaining about it is either infantile or delusional. Much like the people who do the complaining, I suspect.
But that's just my opinion. :D
