Gold shipments on the battlefield

Can anyone tell me how gold shipments appear on an enemy base during wars? Sometimes they are there on an enemy base, sometimes they are not . And the amounts vary as well.

They drop wherever the caravans are on the map when you deploy your first troop.

Shipments do not appear for the enemy. You have either seen the gold from caravans or the gold piles left after clearing a forest.

That is when looting gold from someone who hasn't collected it from caravans, it worth spending a couple of seconds before deploying your troops (and start the battle) so as caravans go exactly where you want them to (eg. outside walls!)

I lost out on 5* victory once because of a pile of gold in a corner edge of plan. They shouldn't be in world war battlegrounds IMHO.

And what's next, houses shouldn't be on the battleground because you missed out on killing it? Or farms? Or towers?
I understand your point and frustration but 1 or 2 grunts kept as cleanup could've helped you.
Don't blame the gold.
