I forgot to inform everyone that I am now on classical age as of this posting. However, my experience during the iron age was fine. The walls did their job and by the time the enemy breaks the walls, the towers, the catapult, and the reinforcements from the garrisons have already killed a significant amount of troops (see my youtube video at: https://youtu.be/sLQDZmRxyDo).

With your base, you're only protecting the gold, am i right? judging by the look of it, your market can easily be looted for food.
