What's with the Pay - to - Play tactic Nexon?

It's extremely unfun when:
Marco charges hundreds of crowns for every little thing.
Or makes you buy lots of things you don't want with lots of crowns to get something else you don't want, as a precondition of getting something else. I think the ransom was thousands of crowns last round, which is pretty high for a "free" game.

When the rubies you earn from wars is no longer useful with Marco the Trader.

When you have to pay continuously for a daily "crown ship" in order to satisfy the higher and higher amounts of crowns needed to buy most aspects of the game. It's like a bad drug habit.

The above, tied to the game not pursuing a logical war matching strategy, is making it unfun to play. I'm having a difficult time getting players to turn on their war indicator when they can't get trade goods to acquire coalitions, or redeem their rubies for troop cards without reaching deep into their bank accounts.

Can we really say that crowns automatically means pay-to-play anymore now that daily videos pay 10-25-50-100 crowns? More and more I’m thinking pay-to-play is meaning currency rather than crowns.

Daily crowns average out to no more than 30-40 crowns per day for me. I get higher rewards at times, but on 4-5 videos most are 5 crowns.

So spending 400 crowns on one troop / chest at marco is something I could do every other week at most.

So yes, it is very much pay to play still. Pure spending for anyone past 2-300 crowns per week in spend.

I’m averaging 400-500 crowns per week with daily videos, forests, quests, and stags. That allows me to purchase tier one of the premium troop package every week (like 2xEagle Warriors) plus additional tiers whenever I want to slog through offers. And between victory chest and daily boat I can gain another 5-7 useful troop tactics with my high medals. Add to that the weekly 1-crown troop from Marco plus 3 troop tactics from the event. That adds up to more than a dozen troop tactics every week. Plus whatever I can get from Marco for rubies. That’s much more than just 1 year ago!
