When going into battle , what would be the first thing that I would look for in order to secure any medal , I know that it has been said to aim for the town center within the first minute of battle , but that doesn't seem to always work . Any suggestions ! Thanks

Yes, town centre for straight medal winning. Best bet if you're looking for a straight medal raise is to use the "Next Player" button till you find a player who places his TC on the outside of the base. Lots of people do that as they want to protect their resources, and sacrifice medals to do so.

EDIT: There is one Wonder - Forbidden City - it acts as a second Town Centre. So if they have that, also skip and look for another player.
