New members for old alliances! Not possible anymore.

I started playing, when the game came out last year. I have my own alliance `Munich Royals`and I had never problems to get new members over the year. I saw many players come and leave. The entire time we were 45 - 49 players steady, but since the last update and the change in showing alliances to players who are on the search, the total number fell to 29. Since the last update, we had none to join and the normal few to leave.
As I heard, the way, the alliances are shown to players who want a new alliance, were changed. Now, newer alliances with fewer players are preferred over the older alliances. That let´s us, THE OLD, bleed out and my remaining players already think about a change too, when the trend continues. This new policy is unfair towards players and alliances who joined from the beginning and already spent lots of money for in App buys. My members are all experienced with 110 - 160 Stars. The game is slow in industrial age or above and the numbers of players are declining.
Before the update, it was not like this. OK, the game was slow, too.

I wonder whether other alliances have the same problems. I guess so, because the numbers of players in the alliances ranking No.100 to 500 are also down. If the trend continues I have to close my alliance and will quit playing the game

The latest update actually did the opposite to what you said, it used to be new alliences got previewed over smaller ones. Now it's alot more random and searching for alliences is better

we are having the exact same problem at "UNITED FORCES" after one of the last updates we are no longer getting new players and players leaving
