I have finally made it to information age and now getting attacked in MP by drone age. i noticed that 99% of the players who attack me use 6 fighters maxed upgrades and 1 recon. Is this the standard in the end game? Very rare I see any one use transporters or bombers.
Should I just focus on fighters? My main force is Mortars + artillery + apc, for air I use 2 recon and 1 transporter. I don’t want to waste my armory on transporter upgrades if they are useless endgame.

It's not uncommon for players to use a combination of fighters and recon drones to attack in the later stages of the game. While transporters and bombers can be useful in certain situations, fighters and recon drones tend to be more versatile and effective in a wide range of scenarios.
If you're finding that you're consistently being attacked by players using 6 maxed-out fighters and 1 recon drone, it might be worth considering adding more fighters and recon drones to your own arsenal to better defend against these attacks.
As for your main force, mortars and artillery can be effective against ground targets, but they're vulnerable to aerial attacks. Adding more anti-air units to your army, such as fighters or missile launchers, could help you better defend against air attacks.
In terms of upgrades, it's generally a good idea to focus on upgrading units that are most useful to your play style and strategy. If you find that transporters aren't a key part of your strategy, it might not be worth investing in upgrades for them. Instead, focus on upgrading units that you use more frequently and find more effective in battle.

You can add fighters and recons to defend a base?

Are you talking about adding to your attacking army - or your base defending against attacks??

Ultimately it depends how you use your air units. Do you want to use your fighters to protect your army or to be a part of the raiding force? or both?
If you want to protect your troops then you'll need fighters in the mix. A few fighters with recons are a good mix & can service multiple roles.
With a fighter/transporter mix, people use the transport to take out strategic buildings (silo, AT guns, AA guns) then the fighters can be used to mop up as well as protect your troops. A transporter is great in later ages (almost indestructible foot troops) as long as you protect it or deploy it strategically.
I've never tried a Recon/transporter mix but if the transport goes down you have nothing to take out entrenched buildings or protect your troops. Do you have Sabotage in the mix?

Yes I use my recon to shield my transport to take out the silo and then even if 1 recon is done I still have the second one, my transporter most survive the air defense and the heavy stuff around the silo and they mostly take the silo in 1 shot, I keep only 1 sabotage to ensure my transport can get out alive, after this even if the transport is 10% hp I deploy it at the edges and clean bases, I don’t personally need much fighters as my apcs + mortars deal with any defenders including the bunker heavy tanks and or the rocket arsenal.
