I play both Clash of Clans and Boom Beach, so I notice a lot of game mechanics and features in DomiNations that were influenced by these two very popular games.
One of them is rallying, but I don't think it functions as well as it could/should.
In Boom Beach, it works fine. You have only one entry point (the beach) when attacking bases. Plus, the scale of the map is small. Also, your deployments are limited to a small number of landing crafts.
In DomiNations, you can deploy many single units at a time and anywhere around a base, like Clash. Compared to Boom, the scale of player maps are huge -- and even bigger than Clash.
Shouldn't rallying be localized, and only rally units nearby within a certain radius? Nothing too small, but not too large either. It currently screws up multi-thronged attacks when used and the far away units never make it to the rally point anyway. Right now, you have to just use it early before you deploy your other troops elsewhere, such as raiders.
I think simply having a localized rally would be fine, and the absence of a global one would be more strategic. But, even if players still want a global rally that could work too. They could be two separate buttons with different colors, but they share cooldowns. So, when one is used they both go inactive until the cooldown is finished.
