If that attack happened after the latest update, means Nexon was unable to fix the cheats. We'll have to wait for few more months for another insuccesful attempt at fixing their countless bugs.

How do these cheats get into they system? How hard is it to hack Nexon? Seems like it's easy with all the cheats getting around

It's the tiny, tiny people inside the heavy artillery loading the shells very quickly. Oh No Wait, Cheats!

This is the same alliance we played a week or so ago. They aren't very good at the game and rely on these cheats to try to kill big bases. We beat them pretty soundly. They also fill every stronghold with magical (I expect free) elephant archers.

And it looks like, despite reporting the cheats this alliance and these players are still active. CS definitely were aware of it as some of our players were awarded crowns. At least one of the players in the alliance has been rolled back to "Default" and yet still plays. And still cheats.

Just goes to show.
