How about a feature that allows you to exchange one resource you have lots of for another you may need? For example, I have lots of food atm as all my main food buildings are full for the age I am working on but I can always use a little more oil and maybe sometimes gold for defence upgrades.

I wanted to post the same.
Sometimes I spent money in this game (not the much to cost intensive big packages but the smaller once) just to support the game development.
But in each time area you will reach the point (for a loooong time) were you can just decide to spend toooooo much money, loose game fun or continue without completing what you want to be completed.
A simple fair resource exchange would help to avoid a game experience downgrade at this time.
Hope someone will read it and react (the solution is simple
