Seen this on sense tower website: Domi made 200k revenu worldwide for 30k downloads.

I had the feeling that this is a low revenue stream. Not much staff that you can keep with 200k revenu (not profit!)

As I posted in this thread, if you want to do revenue estimates, then you are going to need to look at android and iOS.

August came to around 1 million per month across both platforms.

Bear in mind that Apple/Google takes 30% of any purchase you make. So that $1MM per month is potentially more like $700k per month. That’s around $8.5MM per year, net.

If you assume BHG has around 40 employees (not unreasonable based on things said by BHG, photos etc.) then there is a net revenue of just of $200k per employee/year.

Major costs for BHG?

Server costs
Licensing for the game engine they use
Salary + burden (employer taxes, etc)
Office rent

Their revenue isn’t healthy for the staffing level they have, when you throw in some of the other costs they have. It does feel like it is enough to continue on, but not enough to expect anything spectacular - if I were you, I would lower my expectations on anything changing in the future. Maybe the event pass will have helped them turn the corner. BHG’s revenue is around 2.5% of what other games like this are making, if you want a benchmark.

Hi Quali, you’re missing one big point. Those numbers are for just Dominations. Big Huge games has many other games which produce revenues. Dominations is only one piece of the pie.

Care to name any others?

I’ll save you the bother. There are no others that they have developed. If you check their website you will only see 1 game. If you search the AppStore for Nexon you will see the full stable of games they publish - BHG don’t have involvement in any others. Nexon fully own BHG, so they will be the publisher for any other games.

This is the whole pie.

Which has always made their shabby and apathetic treatment of their one active game and its playerbase all the more mysterious. Sure, there are probably many irons in the fire and all their Glassdoor reviews mention having incredible work/life balance for a game studio. That's certainly something to be applauded in this modern world. Still, the obvious lack of support, bug fixing, and long term vision have been readily apparent for years. Quite baffling.

Have we already forgotten how chat, the ability to donate, and join/leave alliances, i.e a major and basic part of any game like this, was broken for SIX WEEKS a couple of summers ago, with very little in the way of communication and sense of urgency in regards to fixing it? Hell, I've never experienced it, but the game has been unplayable due to persistent lag for many folks for months now. Lots of things can and will go wrong with any game. It happens. That it happens when the studio only has the one game, and with stunning frequency, is the issue here.

Wow Quali, you’re right. I just looked at their web page. Last time I looked they had 5-6 others games. I now see nothing. I’d like to hear from BHG with an explanation about this. If in fact there are no other games to work on then why are you advertising 10 positions? https://bighugegames.com/careers/

if you’re not working on or supporting other game then why are us players suffering though ongoing bugs for months and even a year? Please explain.

Like any studio they probably have many games in various states of completion. Including, I strongly suspect, a Dominations 2 or something similar. However, this is the only one the public gets to see so it's sort of a mystery why running a tight ship here seems to be a fairly low priority.

They are looking for new, smart people that can read the code and explain the existing staff how the game works. One fix breaks two other things...
