The cost of upgrading walls

I'm sure everyone has noticed the wall upgrade costs, which are very similar to Clash of Clans.
Whilst the upgrade costs for wall levels around levels 1,2,3 and 4 are fairly achievable with a bit of grinding, the wall costs simply skyrocket in cost as a player progresses through the ages.

Clash of Clans learned from the overwhelmingly negative player feedback regarding their extortionate wall costs, particularly for the higher level walls, that this exorbitantly priced wall upgrade system needed a review. The high level walls were reduced in price and were able to be upgraded with both gold OR elixer/food.
Many players argue that their wall prices are still far too high.

I feel it would be in both the player's and Nexon's interests to take a look at DomiNation's wall upgrade costs and ensure that the prices do not scale too high and more importantly, make walls upgradable with either the gold resource OR the food resource.

^ This.

I could even see a hybrid cost option which would involve some gold and some food, as opposed to one or the other even.

Even a way to exchange gold for food, and vice versa, would be acceptable. (I'm unearthing this)

No Title

If there are creepy rich people, within this gaming universe, willing and available to purchase animal skins, then surely there are consumers in the "market" to purchase food for consumption... amongst other things...

i think it would be too easy to upgrade walls, if you let people also use food on them. the way the game works it's gold for defense and food for army. the only problem is that once they introduced oil, food was no longer used for army, as it was replaced by oil. personally i recommend given users a biofuel plant in IA, so they can turn their excess food into oil.

It's not that I don't like this idea as well, because I do. But there are already people struggling to spend oil... sitting on full refineries. This does not solve that problem either. There needs to be a way to exchange all items for one another, even if the rate is less than ideal.

i guess i just see that as part of the game, and not a real issue. if you let people spend all their resources on walls, then everyone will have max walls, and there will never be any resources to loot.

if you need gold, but not food, then attack bases that have more gold than food. i choose my attacks based on what resource i need for my next upgrade, so if I'm full of food, I'll bypass a base with 50k gold / 300k food, and instead attack one that has 200k gold / 80k food.

resources shortages are a major part of the reason wars are waged, so pick your battles wisely.

Again, I see your point... but it seems odd that you take that stance, yet push only for food to oil exchange. I see that you had suggested this in another post, seeing as it follows history, but are you suggesting that people were not able to sell goods/services for gold?

maybe there could be a commodities / stock market, than you could exchange excess resources into something else. but if you let people exchange all their resources into gold, and they can immediately use that to build walls, there will be no resources for us to loot in battle. that's my biggest concern, as is already bad enough to only get 1 medal per battle, if you then take away loot, there is even less motivation to attack other or keep playing the game.

xGraves sorry if it seems I'm back and for on the issue of resource exchange, I'm trying to be helpful and come up with ideas that would work in game to achieve that.

plus I'm also trying to play devil's advocate, and make sure that the negative side of a resource exchange is understood before everyone goes along with the idea, and then later regrets it.

No worries, my friend. I see where you're coming from. Perhaps if there was something to do in game, when waiting for our armies to retrain, we could spare ourselves these frivolous discussions, haha. Best.

lol, no kidding, I'd much rather be in the actual game having fun with it, then on the forums all the times begging the devs to fix it.

Cheers
