The WWII Event and Fair Play...or lack thereof.

A basic precept for any game is the concept of ‘Fair Play’. This means folks competing begin at the same starting line, and that safeguards are implemented to thwart cheating and/or soft cheating (gaming the system). This new WWII Event was seriously deficient in the afore mentioned areas. Folks with multiple accounts were clearly advantaged by the War Base donation loophole, and the ability to donate/dump troops between accounts. Higher aged players were advantaged over lower aged players due to increased troop space, thus the ability to donate more troops. Space Aged players had the advantage of Archeology research which made crafting Museum Artifacts more efficient. Players who hoarded Museum Fragments were advantaged over players who started with none, or a small handful. So in this WWII Event, we basically had players beginning the event at different starting lines, and depending on other factors, such as multiple accounts, had clear advantages over other players. One need only review the inflated numbers on the Leaderboard to understand something was amiss.

Having said all of the above, I did enjoy the event, but was sorely disappointed that I basically, even as an extremely active player and number one donator in my alliance, had no chance at all to win the event.

I would like to suggest the following:

1. Close the War Base troop donation loophole. A player should only be able to dump troops a single time from a War base. Same with Troop Cards.

2. Implement a daily cap on Troop Donations.

3. Implement a daily cap on XP earned from leveling up Museum Artifacts.

4. A progressive XP scale so lower level players can compete. This means lower levels may be awarded more XP for troop donations. Or, create a Global Leaderboard for each Age.

5. XP earned for donating Troop Cards to your mates Stronghold.

6. More XP earned for completing Goals.

7. Grinding should be limited to XP from Stars earned in battle.

Thank you BHG in advance for taking the time to read and considering the above changes.

The ability to dump troops from war bases is useful. I'm sure we've all had the joker who loaded the wrong troops in all the bases, so this allows you to correct that. That it was exploited for this event is an issue with the event, not this feature. I would prefer that the xp was based on in-battle accomplishments, so that you could say that the winner truly worked the hardest and deserved it.

they should only allow this to give XP. Then everyone is on equal footing:

7. Grinding should be limited to XP from Stars earned in battle.

Looks like several great suggestions - thank you!

I know the team is already discussing a careful choice around which goals will be indefinitely repeatable. However, I don't foresee a cap on the number of times the 'endless' goals can be completed. If the goals were finite, it would put a cap on the total event XP any single person could earn, and would cause the Leaderboard to be stagnant. (To me, combat suggestions seem like a great idea of something to repeat!)

The Group Leaderboard functions as a sort of
Global Leaderboard for each Age.
This may not have been as apparent as we hoped since the Leaderboard bug listed all players as Pompus the Wise's Space Age account. Hopefully it's something that will be more clear once this bug is fixed!

All good suggestions. But to play devil's advocate and maybe stimulate conversation I don't have an issue with people at advanced levels having an advantage ie: I don't begrudge people ahead of me.
They spend years playing this game or buying their way to the top. Either way aren't they entitled to some benefits from their efforts? Rewards for their endeavors?
The nobility always eat better than the working classes. :D

With regards to indefinitely repeatable goals:
when in the next event the most efficient way to amass XP will be stars gained in battles, I have one suggestion to tackle a consequential problem:
People will have to drop medals all the time to be able to 5* quickly in lower leagues. Now imagine everyone doing that.

Solution: make it a tiered system where you gain more XP per star in higher leagues!

This way you prevent boring repetitive "gameplay" and introduce an interesting choice of finding the sweet spot for most XP earned per hour.

Ooh this is a good idea, although unless the boost is significant the lower leagues will still be better. Five starring bases in the highest league can be a grind...

I’ll pass on the recommendations, players more advance should have advantages over newer players, otherwise, why advance.

Looks like they listened to us... New event rewards XP for destroying buildings in battle. No more donations woohoo!

Yeah, they listened very well! Well enough to charge a ridiculous $15 for another event pass... literally a day after the last event, requiring $20, ended. Is this your idea of progress or “listening?”

Because you don’t want to be stuck not progressing? Players in earlier ages should be on equal footing; nobody should have an advantage. Most people who advance do it so that they can do more with the game, because they’ve done what they wanted to.

Are you familiar with other games? For that matter are you familiar with real life? :D
Players in earlier ages should earn their 'stripes' like in real life.

King Crimson — Yes, a discount with which it’s still excessively expensive. These should be $7 at most.

Maybe the problem is that I’m just sick of these events that are a way to get more money from the players, as opposed to the FREE ones that were the norm for years and don’t require you to spend $15 a week just to fully participate. I don’t think that’s a ridiculous thing to dislike.

No argument from me that free things or micro transactions are better. I'm only saying they made start. It might lead to lower and lower prices but who knows.
They have to start somewhere.
