Turn Off Replays in World War

I think replays should be turned off in WW for a couple of reasons. The first is that it gives the 2nd attacker an unfair advantage by being able to discover traps, choke points, and kill zones. The 2nd reason though is I suspect some hack or bug exploit is being used via the replay mechanism to discover museum artifacts, all trap locations, etc. I’ve seen too many times a 1st attack on my base that yields zero stars, only to have the 2nd attacker come in and attack with the perfect troop mix and away from all traps, even those not exposed in the 1st attack. I don’t believe in coincidence, and I’m convinced somehow these players are exploiting the replay mechanism.

Nope! It is the best way to help the younglings to improve and for us to learn what we did wrong. And as long as the option to learn from the first attack exists for both teams then any legal intel is fair.

A few weeks back my first reaction to your claim of cheats would be incredulous but I have learnt a lot more in the last 2 weeks - that what you say is plausible. Even then let them fix the issue instead of ‘throwing the baby out with the bathwater’

Ask97 - Then make the replays available only after the current World War has completed. No reason whatsoever to make the replays available while the World War is active. You can also use friendly challenges as a teaching aid. Ridiculous that replays are allowed during an active World War.

Consider first attacks as a scouting party then. It's like your whole purpose in life is to come up with terrible ideas for this game. Bully for you that you're some kind of digital masochist, but this game is supposed to have mass appeal.

Though I will give you credit on idea #2. There is/was an exploit where people can see your opponents' library techs, perhaps that's been extended to museums and beyond.

Still, the first two years of this forum was people asking for war replays, and to deal with cheaters of course. So one out of two is progress.

@ Bootney - That's not a Scouting Parting. A Scouting Party is being able to view the base prior to an attack, and that feature is already there. Having the replay is entirely different; it's like being able to see your opponents poker hand in round 2. Dumb. Or, like knowing your opponents next move in chess before he/she makes said move. Again, dumb. Mass appeal? How? Nullifying defensive elements by pulling the rug from underneath someones strategy is just boring...at least to me. Maybe I'm expecting this to be a strategy game, but clearly it seems not.

You’re probably right that players are cheating with some kind of replay exploit. It’s funny, the “replays” aren’t actually replays at all, which aren’t stored. Nexon just stores the troop/tactic drop info and uses this to instead regenerate the battle on demand. It’s quite close to what actually happens most of the time, and sometimes wildly not.

I think war replay is a double-edged sword, even without the exploit factor. Why should the whole other alliance get to see your base’s traps after a scouting attack, and yet you can’t make any modifications? Doesn’t smell quite right. However, who could argue with the excitement of viewing war replays right after a big attack goes down?

Well, I used to be one of the biggest supporters for this game, but over the last few months I've become increasing frustrated. No element or feature in a strategy game should expose an opponents strategy...and that's exactly what the replay does. I'm not opposed to the replay feature, but it should be available only AFTER the current World War has completed.

Ha. This game ceased being a strategy game when they incorporated the stronghold and decided that 90% of all creative efforts would go to new troop cards and was doubled down on when the war museum became a thing. Technically though, using money or cheats to tilt the playing field heavily in one's favor is a strategy I guess.

Despite my vehement disagreement with most of your ideas, I respect your passion and articulance in making them. At this point though, the game is what it is. Unfortunately that includes the laughable security and matchmaking. I'm not saying to quit fighting the good fight, just to keep your expectations realistic.

Members of an alliance are on the same team. The team goal is to win the war. As such, watching replays helps win the war as a team.

Even if you get rid of replays (which I don't think is a great idea), players would still do scout attacks and take screenshots of trap locations.

In could be it's just time for me to find a different game to play. I have a busy life and only play 1 game with only 1 account. I've been playing this game since almost the beginning so perhaps it's time for me to move on. I'm getting too frustrating with this game so that's not good. lol.

What you are asking makes no sense, i will just record my attack and show it to my team mates during world war, iphone allow you to record, some apps allow u to do that also, no point in removing the replay, actually its nice not having to record it outside the game :)

The replay should stay, but it really needs to be more accurate then current replays there showing.
There 9 out off 10 times way off from the reality.

If you fear all these, then replays might be available after the war ends. Don't remove them completely, though, because this would lead to the cheaters feast! They'd become hidden and unchallenged to do anything as they please, without being afraid to be caught

So perhaps we should allow traps to be moved during the war... During war day you can move traps but nothing else. I like it.

The replay is not a free view of traps it's a failed effort that cost an attack. Besides I'm pretty sure that our troops are programmed to seek traps out anyway( like when they take out a random block of wall only to get hit by a landmine) so unless all of your traps are clustered in a small area, knowing where they are doesn't really help a huge amount. Not to mention it's usually so easy to predict where someone clusters their traps anyway.

the hacker issue is a separate point, I even made a comment when the first link to that reddit post was made that nexon should temporarily disable the replays until a fix was made.

Replays are critical to the game. For those that have been around since the beginning, we know how frustrating it is without.

All serious alliances took and shared trap screenshots and even shared videos on YouTube of their attacks before war replays existed. It was a lot of work, kind of a pain, and a real advantage for those who did it. Sort of a rich get richer situation, since the benefits went to those who were already the most dedicated and active.

War replays really leveled the playing field and gave a lot of players in even casual alliances a chance to improve by watching others attacks on their war bases, without all the extra work. And they got the scouting information without having to have an outside app for communication and sharing screenshots, much more friendly and accessible.

If your suggestion was acted on, it would hurt casual players and make little difference to serious teams except adding hassle. Don't think that is a good tradeoff at all.

Maybe they could have it so you could have one war base layout with multiple trap setups, and after each attack the game would randomly select a new one. That would add uncertainty and reduce the value of replays for scouting without removing the positive aspects.

Anyone cheating does not need a scouting attack. Traps and most defensive buildings aren't even active during matrix mode attacks, so it really makes no difference for them.
