Are you serious? Your motivation is a man hunting an endangered species? Why not hunt cows? They're not endangered.
I can think of many other things that are more worthwhile for a General to do. Things like adding to troop health or increasing rally power or leading a charge (another short term rally) just to name a few.

Let the generals hunt, and even collect apples . This is a solution to the problem of lack of workers!
