University research times

I know this is a constant problem but I still feel I need to bring this up. Please reduce the research time of university leaders: Leonardo da Vinci, Catherine the Great, King Sejong, Sultan Saladin, and Suleiman the Magnificent down to a reasonable time on par with all the leaders that have been brought out since then. The time investment is ridiculous and the benefits so minimal as to be pointless to spend either the time on or the money on crowns. I doubt most playing players even consider it because of how little or narrow the benefits are for the crown cost of each upgrade.

I know Nexon can be sensible about this, after all every new post-release University leader has had a reasonable research time that give a decent benefit if researched all the way. Nexon even fixed the uselessness of the docks by reducing the expedition times down from taking a week or more to at most 2 days so I know they see the benefit of such things.

I'm only asking because I know this is something they can do right and have the capability to fix, again pointing to the Dock example they have the ability to just change the time required to something manageable and sensible that people would actually want to take advantage of.

One word - no. I like how lvl.6 HT tank upgrade takes 7 citizens and 10 days. And most probably lvl.7 will take 11 days lvl.8 12, lvl.9 13 and lvl.10 will take 14 days. But post 6 remain to be confirmed. And yes, that's just for one perk.

I could take a small reduction in times but to me the reduction of workers is more critical, especially with another leader added!
Never understood why a library for research doesn't use workers but a Uni for research does. Well, we all know why, don't we? ;)

if you think the benefits are so minimal then you can just ignore them. you dont HAVE to research and upgrade everything thats available.

or some people have done it the picky choosy way and researched only what they found worthwhile

its up to you to decide whether to put your workers in buildings or university. but if there is a reduction in times for university but not buildings, that would be really screwing people who had chosen university over buildings.

Nexon screwed up big time with the initial release of the university leaders. The times were way too long and many of the researches were just useless.

They have learned since then, and the research times are more reasonable and the upgrades meaningful for the most part. They even gave us time reductions through the additional leaders. But it's too late to change the times and researches of the initial leaders. Too many players have invested time and crowns for them, that it would be unfair to change it at this point. At least they learned, even though the community pointed out these errors when they first released them.

This entire concept that it is unfair to shorten the times on old things because some people started earlier and have already done them doesn't make any sense to me. Quovatis

Done is done. You have had the benefits if you did them already, and you don't have to redo anything if they shorten time or cost now.

Keeping the current upgrade times as long as they are to get to CWA will end the game under the weight of requiring years to get to the latest parts of the game. There is no way they can justify continuing development of new content like the space age for less than 10k players. That applies to the university and to normal buildings. For the university, many of the researches are basically required to be an effective attacker in atomic, given all the defense boosts there. But they don't help you make any progress towards 220 to move up. So those long times are a real delay.

shortening times on ALL old things is not so unfair, but shortening times on just the university as OP suggested is very unfair.

guy A goes univ then buildings, guy B goes buildings then univ. and somewhere in the middle, univ times get reduced? guy A gets screwed. if everything gets reduced then guy A and B both benefit.

Instead of reducing the time overall, I believe that they should reduce the level of research required to move down a research tree to only a single research in each category, much like the library. (For example: reducing the need to research five levels of university hit-points under Leonardo da Vinci to just a single level requirement to move on to heavy artillery hit-points.)

This already happened when mansa and hiawatha were released well after the rest, with their 30% reduction in time and cost and the worker reduction as well.

I would expect a reduction in time for the earlier ages would probably end up relatively penalizing someone who was evenly upgrading each building vs someone who only upgraded a few key buildings all the way, and left others far behind. All changes are relatively better for some then others.

But none of them actually hurt anyone. No one loses the things they have already finished. And every new player that starts, or alternate account you create, is better off.

In addition to reducing the time, not instead of.

The saladin tree is such a huge boost for long time players relative to newer ones, it is impossible to balance the game around a major upgrade that takes over a year to get.

personally I don't see any problem if developer decides to lower requirements on outdated content it's quite normal in many online games. the fact you can progress faster will keep new players active and happy and it's not going to put the old ones in any disadvantage. otherwise it will bring more competitors to higher ages faster (which was perfectly executed with the rush events) the instant tc upgrade is a great boost for new players however someone who was upgrading the tc to atomic which was 12 workers for 13 days might feel at the disadvantage but on the plus side it brings new easy targets for the old AA and CWA players. it's a mutually beneficial for both sides.

in my opinion one of the many possible solutions for the "insane university research times" would be adding a option where you can reduce the research time to 1 or 2 days or by certain % by using an extra payment with oil or introduce new type of resource which could be use exclusively for the research this way new players can finish the research faster and old players would benefit as well as it would be usable for the future leaders (there will still be the option for paying players to finish it instantly with crowns)

Anyway if it stays as it is it is just a game and the long upgrade times will result in entertaining us for longer

Happy Looting

Yes, smart people will pick and choose but the point is there's so many things that need workers but workers are not increasing at a proportional rate.
We end up with less things able to be upgraded simultaneously, compared to early ages when you have a higher proportion of buildings going at once.
My CW account has 3 buildings going at the moment, my industrial has 5.

University Time should be reduce. but building upgrade time is in high priority to reduce

With Wonder / Other Research, Most research can be complete less than one week, but building still taking 2 weeks
