TinSoldier This is getting really old. Again, matched up in an 848 to 17 glory war. Age and Level:
My Alliance: A229, A210, G182, G181, G182, A179, I172, I158, I152, I156, I154, G162, I68, I116, I152, I152, E138, E133, E126, I89
Their Alliance: A214, A212, A215, A210, A215, A181, A201, A182, A204, A189, G186, I179, I159, G145, I163, I109, M50, M54, M47, C32

Its just not fun anymore... this is 4 out of the last 5 wars that have looked like this. And oh, their top 10 have missile silos and we have 1.
There are some smart people over there at Nexon/BHG. You really need to do something about this. Use a standard deviation formula on the ages and levels and use that as part of the matching algorithm. Something. Because this is getting absolutely ridiculous.

One could think, Dominations has no formula at all.

Looking at our last wars it seems, the developers simply take the first matching clan in the queue:
No waiting time for 15vs15 or 20vs20, and usually a totally overpowered opponent.
We do not even plan the wars any more, because it is impossbile to win. We only try to get as many Alliance EP as possible.
Without the Alliance EP my clan would have stopped world wars.

It’s been like this for weeks. The latest one ...1082 if we win 12 if we loose. They are level 7 ...we are level 5. It’s demoralising. Why do we bother. Matchmaking is a bit of a joke.

Beyond 5.8 and the 5.8 Balance Update, we’re also working on changes to the offense/defense rating system for World War. The ultimate goal here is to surface these values to players so that they can better see why two Alliances have been paired up for World War. TinSoldier recently posted a detailed explanation pointing out some of the misleading assumptions that players have had surrounding World War matchmaking. He does a great job out outlining why looking only at Age and player level can lead to inaccurate assessments of matches. Unfortunately, the values that are actually used for World War matchmaking, namely offense and defense rating, are not surfaced anywhere in the game. I’ll go into more detail about this in the future, but I did want to mention that this is something we are working on.

Showing the offense and defense ratings of players could lead us to point where we believe that a matchmaking formular is - somehow - integrated in this game.
So I am really interested in the details Brian was talking about.

It's almost like it's currently comparing their defense to their offense and our defense to our offense and thus coming up with an equal match.
Just a side note to the current war... 20 v 20. They had 21 attacks, and already had 100 stars... just one 4 star attack. And no attacks from their bottom 5... go figure, they were probably all created by their leader and are just there to throw into wars so that poor saps like us can get stomped on. I'm the #1, and from the onset, the game said I should attack #5. Come on TinSoldier and @BDS, tell us something!!!

It seems ever since the whole glory point system was incorporated in the game, matchmaking has had serious issues, and it's only getting worse. I find it telling Tin Soldier has stayed silent on the whole matter after putting forward the utterly ridiculous and unrealistic formulation trying to justify matching top heavy alliances against lower aged ones. Unless you're alliance has been playing for years, or sandbag, you really have zero chances of winning wars anymore. I guess BHG is fine knowing Domination has jumped the shark.

if the glory is low it is an easy war you should win easy, with even win loss of glory a decent war, if you stand to Win a lot of glory and loss very little thats usually a loss, lots of alliance are full of high level rubbish players who cant do it in war, you guys need to look at you line up's nothing Nexon can do to fix this really

Last 10 wars have been like, 1300 Green number & 50 Red number, ie GURANTEED LOSS... giving up on wars, as Every team are Base Stacking now...
ALL Honest Teams appear too have Quit wars now...

So after a few wars where things seemed to normalize, we're back at it:
Us: A235, A195, G184, G182, G177, A183, I160, I153, I161, I158, G163, I158, I154, I138, I119, I155, I137, E138, E129, G103
Them: A241, A239, A208, A205, A194, G189, A186, I161, I171, I177, I174, I166, A161, I156, I140, E136, E135, E127, G107, C48
Glory gain for us: 803. Them: 62.
We are out leveled for our top 15 slots.... and yes, that is a classical age guy at the bottom of their lineup.

Unfortunately, my alliance also gets the tougher opponents possible, I don't know how. I've been complaining for far too long, I'm too tired now. I only hope that something is about to change, but, after each upgrade I'm getting brought down.

We also had a sh*t matchmaking last time : around 200 glory to win, over 600 to loose, and opponents wich were far stronger than us thus we lost over 600 glory in a war where we didn't had a chance to win ...
It should have been the opposite, 200 to loose, 600 to win ..

I understand that sometime the matchmaking might be crap but Nexon please don't mess up with the glory at the same time, if the opponents are stronger the glory has to be calculated in a correct way !

Hey Buddy, I was an alliance leader for a long time with a similar line-up like yours. You have to beat the system by figuring out the long stack lineup that gives you the most fun consistent wars. We only allowed active players so we didn't consider it "stacking". As the leader you have to figure out the proper ratio of strength to put into your war lineup. If the last war was a 25v open up alliance to public and get a few more 50s,60s,70s (whatever the level and base strength you need), try a 30v with 5 more weaker players. It sucks for most of the lower ranked but basically your top 15-20 gotta be stronger than their top 15-20 (for a 30v war) and do a majority of the 5* battles and hope ur top few players defense can hold up to their top few players offense. Once you find a nice balance of strength you will get consistent decent matchups (again you will have to add in more weak players or remove some of your mid-high level weight that can't hit very hard, or not as active in donations, whatever the reason you choose to decide who will sit). If u get another stacker remove weight again or add more low levels to bring your total weight down, continue until you find a fair consistent balance where wars can be fun again. 1 new fairly strong player in lineup can be the difference between stackers every war or none. Until the formulas are changed this is my only recommendation. Good luck!

Thanks WhoYaWitt. We're about to make changes to the line-up, especially with the current war's line-up of #$, that has glory at 852 to 13 (which instantly tells you something) and them carrying 11 Atomic Age, 2 Global, 2 Industrial, 2 Enlightenment, and the crowning jewel of 3 IRON AGE (levels 8, 9 and 10).
TinSoldier, we really don't want to be one of those alliances that creates additional users just so we can get matched up in wars that we can actually participate in. We don't mind losing - a couple wars ago we had a thrilling competition that we ended up losing by 1 - but we'd at least like to have some fun while doing so! It is obvious from the glory calculations that the war matching system can detect these complete mismatches. I for one believe it high time that you keep the mismatches from being matched in the first place. PLEASE do something about it.
