So looking at it logically , wars are useless...the rewards are not worth the taking part .....especially if you are a Cold War base ...you simply don’t get back what it cost you to take part most of the time , given that I’m assuming you will also be donating troops to alliance members , and maybe even stronghold troops !

I just did a two attacks , second attack using the instant retrain.....with wall breakers and raiders ....no stronghold troops, no NTGs used for alliances.....and got just under a million Gold and about the same food ...4000 oil .
And that’s not an unusual cherry picked result .....because when raiding I can pick and choose bases to attack , in war , with your alliance , you are a lot more constrained in who you can attack , there is no Next base option if there is a finite selection in your war opponents .

Sure you can use the instant retrain or a second attack in war , but you will use your most expensive troops , Stronhold support and NTGs for alliances ....just to get something like the same in terms of rewards ( if your alliance wins the war )...maybe a bit more , maybe a bit less.

Given all that , and the fact that wins ...5 star wins especially ....are more difficult these days , I would say that the rewards should be at least doubled to make it worthwhile to war.
This is another consequence of the rebalance that is yet to be addressed .....it’s not as simple as just making 5 star wins more difficult as the designers seem to think .....
Or maybe it was thought of and just seen as a way to get people to spend more ....but I don’t see it working that way , it just means I’m not really interested in participating in war any more .....I’m spending less on special troops, not worrying about NTGs any more and using a less varied selection of troops.
Im also playing a lot less...simply waiting until the instant retrain is available ......with maybe one or two attacks per day when troops are available ....and I’m not even using the training blessings any more to speed things up ( which I used to do .....getting a load of attacks in while using the training blessings to bing loot to upgrade something or other . I’m more happy to simply wait and play another game in the meantime ).

I play to war. I have max walls and no more library research, and armory upgrades take so long I am pretty much maxed on oil all the time too. Therefore collecting resources in multi-player attacks is not important to me. Except NTGs; those I need.

I use instant retrain after both war attacks, so war only costs me stronghold troops, which I do buy on occasion. I mostly use free troop chest armies.

Alanswiss this is how I play dominations the last several months after summer of the ages. And I believe many others too. I feel you mate!

ww has always been about the exercise, not about the loot.
i use my best troop-tactics in ww to contribute in a community strategic expression.
i don't think ww has more benefit than that.

'glory' is aptly named. the iliad teaches about how glory is ephemeral.
in the underworld achilles told odysseus he would prefer we not know his name if it meant he could have lived.

that said, there *should* be something more motivating for the winning team .... speedups for all?

edit: i suppose that rubies are the counterargument; they added rubies.... okay but obviously since it doesn't jump to mind we don't value them that much.

I once suggested to give Legendary artifacts to the winning teams. It will be more beneficial to sell them duplicate ones if we need more blueprints.
Right now I personally war for additional rubies to trade with some troop chests. And, alliance XP 😚
