I can see why they would use the leaderboards after the event to sort out the cheating. To make it fairer to the legit players they should re-instate a new leaderboard - once cheaters are kicked - to show the legit top 100 and then award prizes accordingly.

They are doing this already the cheaters are disappearing from the leaderboard and the clean players take their places. I was moving from 97th place up to 79th place. And only after all investigations were done, the rewards were given. So they are actually doing what you wrote above

the point i mentioned was to do this BEFORE the event is over to give players a fair chance of hitting the top 100 leaderboard and than finally before giving the rewards they should check them again.
