Why do I lose my General even if they survive?

Its ridiculous that I invest so much into to getting a castle, buying a general only to lose that general after a battle, even if they survive. PLEASE do something about this

The general is a special warrior. You can only use him for one battle without a cool down. If he loses less health the cool down is shorter

If you lose HP on general they need to heal. I don't know if there is a universal CD of 1 hour regardless of HP loss or not. I had one battle which I believe my Alexander should be of full hp but still on cd for about an hour, I could be wrong

"special warrior" ???? that is no justification....after you invest so much time...money and effort..you should ONLY LOSE YOUR GENERAL IF HE OR SHE DIES...plain and simple...if it were some kind of auxiliary unit or a disposable unit by all means...but not after having to level up...invest...mine...wait...then lose the general after few minutes. PLUS after cool down you still have to PURCHASE another general.

you honestly think 7500 food is a lot? In case you didn't notice, the castle is another static defense to the least. I think the current design is perfectly fine. You are not supposed to spam your general to every battle which would utterly break the balance, how could people in the earlier age even stand a chance? The general is supposed to be a unit which you only pull out for the most important case so you SHOULD use it wisely.

@Jericho with all due respect you are talking utter nonsense. You are behaving like the General is INDESTRUCTIBLE or a GUARANTEED WIN WHEN USED IN ATTACK! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Which supports my initial argument. The General even after costing so much to get in the first place...IS VERY VULNERABLE AND EASY TO KILL...whcih makes it evermore ridiculous that you lose him or her even when they aren't killed. You invest SO MUCH TIME, EFFORT AND RESOURCES into the general...that ISNT EVEN THAT STRONG...and you LOSE EVEN IF THEY DON"T DIE.

IN CASE YOU DIDNT NOTICE...a group of ten pikemen can QUICKLY destroy a defending general...your point is invalid...the general should not just disappear...its ridiculous. If the general were a game changer then sure...but as it stands now its too hard to acquire and too easy to kill.

Another idea is to place the general a bit later, once you've got through the walls. Once smashing troops and buildings they really make a mess of an enemy base!

Oh geez. I'm not high enough level to use a general yet, but it seems as though they are used just as any other unit (all units cost resources and time), just with a cool-down. In that case, I would think you just have to be smart about how you use him. Andy's suggestion seems like the best course of action.

Of course, this is coming from someone who hasn't used a general yet. Good luck!

think of it like real war, you dont send your general to every battle, you send him to one thats really important. i like it. adds more thought to the game, rather than having a super-tank or damage dealer each battle

I want to clarify: when you say "it's gone", do you mean "I need to buy it again" or "I still have it but I can't deploy it in battle"?
