Delph. Put your ballista towers next to your catapults. It's really easy to take catapults down with cataphracts; and not too bad to take ballistas down with heavy legions (phalanx). But taking both down at the same time is large casualities for me without sabotage or something, especially...
I was wondering whether the league rewards were going to get any better (currently classical). I suspected not.
But rather than just getting more resources, you should get something special. Maybe your league gives you a multiplier to all your other resources - that would give you an...
Yes I didn't realise the special unit applied to every age or I might have picked a different country. Still, my Roman special still probably puts it in the top crowd.
Normally I save crowns like x0pht said.
But when you've a huge pile of gold with 30k to go and 5 minutes left to play, then rushing troops can save the day. A lot more efficient than buying the stack of gold I needed earlier.
OP means over-powered - the heavy legion is a very powerful unit. (To make things more confusion op sometimes means original poster - the person who wrote the first post.)
According to another post I read, in classical age your special troops are a lot more powerful than other troops, whereas...
Attempt 2. Attacked a much stronger, medieval base I wouldn't normally have attacked. Messed up slightly by splitting my forces and then forgetting about the second catapult. My army died. But I took almost all the loot. Potential as a heavy raiding strategy while I'm still in the classical...
It worked ok-ish first time.
Based on my one-shot, I'd say it's going to be quicker than my normal strategy with a better chance of getting five stars off an easier-but-still-challenging base. But with more casualties if I attack a stronger base.
Your loot looked really high to me, though, so...
Mine is similar except I use heavy legions instead of cavalry raiders (I'm Roman). I send the wall miner against the wall next to the catapult and then take that out with cavalry (legions too if it is badly placed)
I can get to a central catapult if there's a route to it without many base...
Right, I am going to try this now. I must admit I envision my legions getting stuck behind a wall and being mown down en masse by a catapult, or caught and isolated by those little people with the pointy spears, but we shall see.
