Today I started to have the same problem. I tried everything, even reinstalled the game.. nothing works.. so I opened the game on the emulator and than I retrained my troops and watched videos there. It seems to be an IOS problem.

Should be this way, but you are wrong, when you disconnect the game hold for about 30s, before that you can connect and the battle still run. Go ahead and try in the challenges, you will see.
