So I was playing some AOE 2 HD and it dawned on me. Battering rams! Awwww yeah.

Wall miners are just lame re-skinned COC wallbreakers and everyone knows it.

Battering ram units would be:
  1. Slow
  2. Super Tanky
  3. Only targets gates
  4. Takes out a gate in 2-4 hits
  5. Vulnerable to spike traps and caltrops.

Rams were for gates only. They also wouldnt transition through the ages well.

The wall miners are not "lame re-skinned COC wallbreakers"

Military mining has been used in siegecraft since the birth of fortifications. Wall miners continue to be used.
They were in ancient times, they are in present times. They transition through the ages well for this game.

I know you meant well, but hey, part of what the developers hope players get from this game, is the urge to learn history.
So why don't ya go research military mining, then you'd know it ain't got nothing to do with CoC
Specially, there is a word that came from it all, undermining
Oh ****, there are miners, undermining your walls.

Apparently something about the phrase "COC wallbreakers" was enough to push you into a blind rage.

I didn't say they would go away I just think they are stupidly cloned from COC and function exactly the same. Hence this post offering a different approach to player vs wall warfare.

When you calm down quote me the line in my post that says I want to replace them with this unit.

As number 3 states .... well you can go back and try to read it, oh and you can try read the first line of your post too I guess since you cant read mine you might as well practice by repetition.

I like to think a battering ram would compliment the game by providing a little more "realism" than a "miner" blowing his way through walls like they are made of hot butter. You see that all the time in the history books some dude walks up to a castle and boom walls gone?

Congrats on understanding that "Rams were meant for gates only." tho.

But heyyy... I know you meant well but you are undermining my thread with random tangents...bro

That's the core concept of this advanced lecture, I hope you are taking notes.

The battering ram transitions fine and has been used since the invention of the doorway. They even use them nowadays!
Police use it to (you guessed it) open doors. Its a shame they didn't use it to prevent your mother and her brother from banging you into existence.

Learn to formulate an argument before you talk trash you can't back up in somebody's thread kid.

you're pulling straws. gates are not doors.

semantics aside, it's a stupid idea to begin with. it just adds a pointless unit to the game. why choose a weaker breacher that takes longer to get to a target for a position that is less effective for your team? and takes longer to breach?

"Wall miners are just lame re-skinned COC wallbreakers and everyone knows it."

your idea is lame, wall miners are great

I stand by that quote they are exactly the same as a COC wall-breaker except they live on to blow up more walls unless they are hit by just about any attack. Speed is their strength.

That is entirely my point they have zero survivability except for the troops you sacrifice to keep them covered. This is their weakness they force you to spend troops and they are unreliable in hitting the section you may need to make your attack work.

The "point" of the battering ram unit is to breach a gate for your troops while providing a defense for your other troops by drawing fire from catapults, towers, balista towers, etc. It lets you pinpoint the spot you are going to breach. It's point is its utility, It provides the opportunity to deviate from the standard "best attack" cliche where everyone figures out there's only one "real" way to make an attack and the game dies because everyone gets bored doing the same thing over and over with no real creativity involved when they attack.

This game is 70% COC say what you will. That't not a bad thing COC did well and I hope this game will do well. They were open to new unit ideas that made the game grow and that made them a success.

It is not a stupid idea and it has a point.
