The Road Not Taken

This morning after logging in I noticed that one of my road squares was missing, causing a bunch of buildings to be disconnected from my town center. Figuring this was likely the result of an errant drag-and-drop when intending to simply scroll around the base (which happens with frustrating regularity), I commenced a search for the presumably misplaced road. After failing to find it anywhere, I went into the layout editor and tapped "Pick up All," and confirmed that the inventory bar showed only 99 available road squares. So on a whim, I checked the store, and lo and behold, there was the missing road square, just waiting for me to purchase it again.

I have no idea what kind of game glitch caused this, but if you're mysteriously missing a road square, check your store.
