​~ Medal range of opponents? ~

Does anyone know what is medal range of opponents that you are supposed to be matched with?

I am currently at 2,241 medals. Last night I was attached by dbukalski who is 3,226 medals, a difference of over almost 1000 medals. I am regularly attcked by opponents in this top medal range and who are on USA Elite, Top Dominators, etc. However, I thought that the medal system was that you are matched with mostly opponenents with similar medals as you?

I am not complaining -- I don't mind being attacked by better players because I learn their attack strategies, and to see how my defense holds up. =) And it is cool that I recognize some of the names from the forums. They usually only get 1 medal since they are so high up already.

However it seems that I almost never get a chance to attack bases who are a lot higher medals than me. So they can attack me but I can't attack them.

My theory:
- If you are in top medals then there are not many potential matches, so game matches you with a much broader medal range.
-If you are climbing your way up, then game matches you with mostly opponents below you or at your medal range, which is why I usually see +1/-39.

At 2241 the pool of players u can attack is massive. The chance u will find my base when im not logged in or on peace treaty is small.

The pool of players i can attack is much smaller. Most of the people in my pool are logged on a lot and spend crowns on peace treaties so never get attacked.

The players i have the most opportunity to attack are players like u who have a reasonable pattern/habit of playing that makes u available/open to attack

Out of curiosity which player from my attack log were u so i can double check i represented well just first and last letter of ur id would be fine if u dont want others to know ur id

Is this why top dogs are talking that much about getting to 2400 medal range? promising forests and flowers, lands of villages with healthy resource pools to take, pleasant league bonus... so we will all get in your range of attacks so you can pillage our vaults and take our women?

Hi dbukalski, good to hear from you. My name in the game is "Andy" -- pretty common ID so I don't mind if others know. You represented well, good use of bi-planes I thought. Most attackers now just snipe my TC and leave, but you went for the 5 star victory. I was just happy the clock saved me just in the nick of time. =)

Ah yes well designed base. I had brain fart and forgot to deploy my general until too late so he didnt get into the action where he was needed most fighting against ur 2 generals. That cascaded into unecessary losses walking out of the general showdown and slowdowned the rest of my battle dps. Hats of to a fellow legit player

Took 2 mos to upgrade that lvl30 general he just came off the production line so im still throwing off the rust not forgetting to deploy him. Working on the next guy one more month to go and will have 2 lvl30s

Thanks dbukalski. =) That was first time I've seen level 30 Napoleon in action, pretty scary to be on the receiving end. Hats off to you for staying with it, I bet took a lot of oil. Hope to see you again in game.

Still, the question is valid: I thought we could only fight against player in our league (eg I'm in Kingdom II, i can only attack/be attacked by players in Kingdom II). Is that incorrect? Apparently yes, but I don't think it's documented anywere

The rule is. Ur medals +/- some medals is who u can fight

If you look at your battle logs you'll find that's not true - seems to be medals only +/- 1000 roughly.

Did I miss a memo somewhere? As far as I know, PvP matching is solely based on +/- 1 Age relative to your Age. Medals (and league) are not used as matching criteria.

e.g.:
IA can only be matched to IA and EA (and Global Age when it becomes available)
EA can only be matched to GA, EA and IA
and so on

That's the way I've understood the 'official' commentary.

that is one of criteria. 3000 medal player won't be matched against 400 medal player, that's why they see 'no opponents found' so often on higher leagues.
