Share some bases, help me with bases, or help each other. “It worked with the nation ;)

Acropolis is the best choice in bronze age. Classical is less clear - all are pretty good. Forbidden City is the best for defense - most of the best atomic bases have it. Coliseum is an immediate defense and offense boost, but matters less in late ages. Terra Cotta, again offense boost but not a huge one.

Notre Dame is actually a pretty good choice for someone trying to move up fast. Significant oil savings on a lot of plane / factory troop upgrades as you go, and in some ages you can afford to get all troop upgrades with previous age economic buildings. You will probably want to switch it to something else when you have a maxed base, but that is a long time away.

base design is a harder topic than nation choice.
imo, if you don't know what to do, the first best thing is to copy someone else and start adapting to your preference.
if that doesn't work, then start with a simple pattern (often inspired by others) ... walls in rows or chevrons is common and effective.

one no-no ... don't make one giant box. it's easy to work with, but not a good use of walls.

When i first started out and i came across a base that worked well in defense Iwould just copy it. Ive had so many different base designs. But you will always get your arse handed to you every now and then from a higher age player.

Honestly, stop worrying about your base defense as much until you reach Enlightement age and build a refinery.

You are late into the game's lifespan, the early ages are filled to the brink with abandoned bases so your base will never even be seen by players.

If you are so worried about your base layout then just make a 3 box layout with your walls.

The best way to design your base is this: which base do I have trouble destroying?
Use that as a starting point and make changes from there. :)
Like Bedlam said, you have to experiment.
