Change in WW Algorithm?

Just speaking for my alliance, but the matching for World War has become worse. We have had bad matches the last 9 World Wars, and it’s getting to the point where folks don’t want to participate, including myself. Did they change the algorithm? Perhaps they should weigh glory more heavily? At this point, I’m ready to go with random chance; I think that would be better. Thoughts?

They haven't updated matchmaking yet. Should be soon. Hopefully before Space Age.

Have you guys tried to sandbagg a little? We started to sandbagg and out results improved, well, I wouldn't go as far as drastically but we getting better matchups. That's all we can do for now until new Matchmaking arrives.

War rank is currently broken, which can lead to some of these mismatches. The latest defensive upgrades (traps, air defense) appear to be nullifying the war rank of those units, thus leading to max bases being ranked 10th instead of 1st and other abnormalities.

As I am the one that usually pushes the search button, I had experimented A LOT with our roster. My observations:

a. If you sandbag in a hardcore fashion, say 5 irons + 15 high level players, then chances are you will get another alliance just like you. War matchup will be hard.
b. If you don't sandbag at all, then prepare for another difficult war cause the others will have a few low level players and you will end up stronger at the end of your line up, but in the middle to high level numbers, they will outmatch you.
c. Recruit or create 2-3 accounts below 100 level (we have 2 accounts in Enlightenment age level 86 and 91). Have them always join your wars and also add a single iron age. I have concluded that this line up works best in WW and allows for fair matches without destroying your or them chances of winning. The results are based on matchups that took place the last 6 months. We had many unequal WW but most of them were decent and in the last 25 wars we have lost only 3.

Thank you Wrathchild. We don’t sandbag, but perhaps we should consider. We want everyone to have fun, so we allow all to join in the WWs who want to participate. We only bench players who did not use either attack in the previous WW. We usually go to war with a team of 25 or 30.

We didn't sandbag either but at some point, I was fed up so I created the 2 said low level acounts. When I had them at Iron age, things were weird. It didn't work as expected.
But when I played with my alts a bit and went to classical and gunpowder age then our matches were fair and we have gained a ton of glory from that point onwards. Now they are both stationed at Enlightenment age with max offence and low defences.

Just to clarify, we're not one of those alliances where you haven't seen the bottom 6 in 15 months. All of my sandbags are active, matter of fact bottom 3 got 15 in current War.
