Drop Medals Feature

What percentage of attacks every day are nothing more than a single troop drop followed by an immediate surrender just to drop medals?! It has to be a significant number just based on my daily defense numbers. I gain anywhere from 300 to 900 medals every single night when I'm offline, just from these kinds of attacks! This is all wasted server load! Reduce the added load on your servers that this creates by adding a "Drop Medals" tab to the box that pops up when we tap on the medal symbol in the top right hand corner of our home base screen. When that tab is opened let there be several boxes to choose from that say how many medals to drop, 25, 100, 200, 500, or 1000. Then people who want to drop medals can just open that tab and tap on the button that will drop them the desired number of medals, and there should be no restrictions on how many medals that can be dropped, down to the 200 medal minimum. This will stop all the extra server load caused by all these wasted attacks, and end all the unearned medal climbs that they cause those being attacked. Most of the "under seige" delays I get when I want to get into the game are just these attacks!

i certainly concur; the design was for us to fight at our limit, while it is much more practical to drop medals and increase back up, especially as german where it influences combat effectiveness.

You do realize that the medal system is a zero-sum game?
For every medal you lose, someone has to gain a medal. Who would receive all these medals and be sent off to the "land of no food"?
This is why they couldn't restore medals from that world war glitch last year. Instead they just gave some people crowns whenever they complained enough.

does it have to be zero sum? perhaps it's the best method; i'm sure most of us don't know all the implications ...
.... but the OP is right, it's a waste of attention and stress to mechanically drop a hundred medals every once in a while just because that's where you want to be.

brainstorms:
set a "cap" where you wouldn't ascend past it?
allow us to 'drop' medals by just tapping them awvay?
establish better rewards for being in higher leagues, removing motivations to be low medal for raiding?

i see the counterargument ... the bottom would become heavy with players looking for easy raiding ....
but right now it's essentially that circumstance for those willing to endure the time to drop manually, and i don't know anyone who doesn't do it anyway....

i'd like to see some new/different ideas about how player ranking should work. perhaps there is nothing better, but ... i'm confident we who appreciate the game could brainstorm a better system.

How much of this is an artifact? When I drop medals this way, I do so by letting the battle clock start, and then clicking end battle without dropping (or losing) a single troop. I lose medals, and since it is a zero sum game the opponent must have gained the medals I lost. How would this appear to the opponent? A random increase in medals suddenly? I think not. I think its an artifact, and it shows up as a single troop attack in their replay, when no troops are deployed.

Artifact?

When you end a battle after the battle has started without deploying troops, you don´t lose any medals. Surely you must have noticed that your medal count didn´t change when you did this and even if it did work, why in the world would you wait for 30 seconds instead of just deploying a unit?

No, just take a look at the night witch attacks. it would just show a blank log if there was a log. Take a look back at the force quit from last year. The logs simply won´t show. same thing goes for last years world war glitch when you lost/gained medals from war attacks. You´d just lose hundreds of medals over night (depending on how many opponents attacked your base) without any logs to show for it.

obsidi You have to look at this from the developers point of view. As you mentioned in your first post, the medal system is designed to work as a ladder and meta game for players. Dropping medals for easier matchmaking is something the players have done to increase their income. It was never intended to work that way. Noone is forcing you to drop medals. If you were able to choose your exact medal count, what would be the point with it? It would just change the medal range for the abandonned bases and you would have to randomly search for them by changing your medals all the time.
set a "cap" where you wouldn't ascend past it?
allow us to 'drop' medals by just tapping them awvay?
establish better rewards for being in higher leagues, removing motivations to be low medal for raiding?
1.Allowing people to set a cap would just create brackets and push the abandonned bases out of the bracket of active players. How often would your be allowed to change these "caps"? Seems chaotic.
2.Again, where would these medals go? If they weren't transfered to someone else, there would be no way to match you with an opponent and you'd have to "next" your way through the entire player base instead of a select group.
3. I doubt nexon are willing to increase the battle bonuses. It seems they're going more in the other direction, trying to make progression harder and more tedious so you're incentivized to spend money. With the introduction of food for walls, the rewards from the higher leagues will never outweigh the efficiency of farming abandonned bases below lvl 170.

What you´re looking for isn´t some new ranking system. You want easier matchmaking. Everyone can't be matched against easy bases with millions of resources. It will never happen.
instead of trying to change the system, I suggest you adapt to it. Start using raiders+sappers or tank armies when you're raiding. Make sure you don't get more than 3 stars from a base and don´t spend all your resources before you log out. Make sure you have atleast 3million food/3millon gold left so you can get a peace treaty. Then you won't have to spend all day dropping your medal count.

I thinks the developers should just adjust the amount of medals lost or earned in such attack... perhaps that will discorage player to concur to those methods. but it may also cause players to stop playing

Kaiser Yes, it looks like I'm wrong here. I tested it and I don't lose medals if I end battle after the clock has started. I could have sworn this had happened before, so maybe they changed this in an update, or I simply had it wrong all along. I play while doing other things such as watching TV, reading a news article online etc., and sometimes I lose track of whether a battle has started or not. The night witch attacks are fairly recent, so I had no examples of it happening when I assumed that this must be how they're handling no troop drop medal drops. Anyway, thanks for pointing this out!

You are right, there used to be a glitch that would drop your medals even when you ended a battle without deploying any troops.
I think it was fixed sometime last year.

I would definitely like to see a drop medal feature implemented somewhere in the game. When I raid I clear bases 100% for ntg's/food/gold/diamonds, so I climb medals pretty quickly with training blessing. A drop medal feature would help me a lot!! 😀

I think something has to be done here. For example I want to stay around 800 medals to earn easily ressources, when I finished doing 5 stars again and again on weak bases I'm often around 1300 medals, so after this if we consider that one can loose around 25 medals per battle I have to drop a soldier and quit the battle 20 times in a row to go back to 800, it is just long, annoying and a waist of time ...

Do you ever read a thread before you start posting replies? How do you suggest this feature should be implemented?

I need this option too. Take much time to get down.
And I want a dislike button for members who start posting without reading the threads.
I realize that you consider this to be a huge waste of time as well, but I'd appreciate if you atleast tried to take other peoples time into account. These posts add nothing of value to this thread as there is no way to implement this feature.

You don't like waste of time so don't waste time by making stupid useless comments.

Honestly the best way to drop medals is to raid with a full raider army bolstered by a few wall breachers, and a couple of rifles to distract enemy troops. Lots of resources in a short window while dropping medals.

I never said this was a waste of time. I simply quoted you and made the assumption that you didn't bother to read the posts in this thread because you thought it was a waste of your time.

Sorry kaiser I didn't consider your feelings when I posted my comment. 🤔I did read the thread and I realise that this is probably a pipe dream idea that cannot happen, but at the same time if it were at all possible in some way it would be extremely useful.
