FUN VS NOT FUN in the game

Hello Everyone,
in Tim Trains' last message he mentioned things that were not fun and things that were fun in the game. I don't necessary agree with Tim on his definition of FUN vs NOT FUN, so
I thought I would start a thread that would help Nexon, BHG get feedback on things that were FUN vs NOT FUN in the game.

Before I start, let me preface by saying I recognize that BHG needs to gain revenue because they have bills to pay and they want to become rich :).

Currently I am not buying any crowns or power ups. I buy crowns and power up so I can gain some sort of advantage in the game. If there is no advantage
or if the advantage may evaporate because of continual game rebalancing I am reluctant to spend any real $$$.

I am level 100 EA with GP based defences

Start with the Positive (right Elizabeth). These things are FUN

1) game is strategy based and relies on skill of players to be successful (this doesn't include cheaters)
2) defence can be altered so you can defend better if you are constantly losing to HC, Raider, Pikeman, etc SPAM
3) replays (sort of) allow you to improve your defence and your offence by showing your mistakes in battle so you can correct them
4) Winning 4 and 5 star battles (although with the attack AI and Rally in its' current state, winning 4 and 5 star battles has become more difficult)
5) gaining loot so I can improve my base and move through the ages
6) learning to use new defence buildings and troops as I increase through the ages
7) being able to stay ahead of my resource loses by gaining resources in the attack phase
- I recognize in the status quo some people are going to gain resources while others lose them, However, BHG designed
a system to allow resources to be gained without attacking and while a player was under a peace treaty.
8) I like gaining resources by building farms, caravan, roads, mines, fruit trees and hunting
- this area of the game needs to be improved so players can keep up with the loses they incur by raiding armies



These things are NOT FUN (and IMO need to be fixed) (list is prioritized)

1. Getting attacked by level 155+ players who have max IA armies with Max tactics and Max mercenaries
- these players have either spent $$$$ or are cheaters
- I don't mind being looted by honest players and I do lose 300+ resources as I try and save the 5.8 M cost for troop upgrades

Being looted is part of the game. The solution to being looted is to build a better base, not to reduce the efficiency of the attacking
troops.

BTW: EA players need a better way to defend against the air attacks. Every time I get attacked by air units I lose of 4 or 5 star
battle.

Solution: move the cheater to a separate league
eliminate the use of crowns (until you solve the crown hack)
revenue can be generate by using power ups that cost real $$$
provide powers ups which cost real $$$ to upgrade buildings as well as troops

2. Instability of the software
It seems to me that every update changes the way the game works, either the Rally, attack AI or unit behaviour / characteristics change

these changes are done in the in name of "game balance". While the game may need some balancing it does not need
balancing every update. Decide how you want the units, attack AI, rally to work make a change, test the change to make
sure things are working the way you intended, and then let the players play and have fun. Constant changes are not fun.

3. Rally is broken
I am tired of seeing my troops blinding attacking walls when I use RALLY.
Usually the troops are in a compartment; I use Rally to get them out of the compartment, the troops try and create
a new hole in the wall to get to the Rally point, when they could exit to the Rally point using the existing hole in the wall.

4. Attack AI is broken (or maybe it is working exactly the way Nexon/BHG has intended :))

a. Archers who are designed to protect Bombards and SC regularly separate from the Bombards and SC
leaving the Bombards and SCs unprotected so they can be easily killed.

b. HC regularly charge at protected Ballista towers and get killed, when they could attack closer defensive buildings

c. Bombards regularly move adjacent to towers and Castles and shoot at buildings which are
much further away (rather than shooting and killing the castle or tower). This behaviour leads
the tower or Castle to kill the Bombard. This behaviour occurs when I do not use Rally.

d. SC get stuck, and do not supply healing to any troops

My observation (after playing since March) is the AI seems more intent on maximizing the number of attacking
troops who get killed, instead of maximizing the
damage to defending defence buildings and resources


Solution:
fix Rally and AI issues (unless the Rally and Attack AI are working the way Nexon / BHG has intended)


5. continuous changes that make gaining loot more difficult

I have been playing since March 2015. Every update I see BHG/ Nexon has made it harder to gain loot by constantly reducing
the efficiency of the attacking troops.

6. continuous changes to troop characteristics that make the troops more inefficient

- I am reluctant to buy any power ups because I do not know if the advantage I buy will be gone the next update.

Solution: stop changing unit characteristics so I know the advantage I buy will be maintained.


7. Seeing trade goods stolen from the TC. According to the documentation, only the Storehouse is supposed to keep Trade goods.

Apologies if this sounds like a RANT, rather than the constructive feedback I intended.

Games of this genre cannot be designed to have complete fun - it has to be designed to be 'almost fun' because to get to the fun part, players need to pay.
