Hi guys,i saw some posts below regarding the Versailles vs Angkor War. Also people were curious regarding the radius. I've uploaded a picture of the Versailles's radius and also wanted to share my base layout with Versailles implemented into it. I personally think I couldn't find a better place for Versailles but to be in middle like I have it. So, if a an attacker goes from any side of my base they will really have to meet the GP Wonder. It acts as a giant Caltrop slowing enemies in its radius for 40%(it is a lot)- heavy cavalry will just get stacked there if they meet defenders. The 10% HP bonus by the way is for both defending and attacking troops. As you can see I am French and Chevalier is my unique unit. Each Guard Chevalier(GP Heavy Cavalry) has 8,580 HP with library upgrade and the Versailles Buff...if you add the Armor Bonus Blessing- you can imagine that there will be over 10K Hp for each chevalier.

I also couldn't really decide at first whether it is Versailles or Ankgor Watt.. AW is good- provides a good heal for your defending troops in a radius similar to Acropolis(not 100% sure, maybe the radius is less, closer to radius of Versailles). So, yeah, if you have lvv 10-20 generals and stables maxed- the heal is gonna be strong(really strong). The bonus trade good tho- really?fuck this shit- if you raid a lot then u have the trade goods for sure(worthless bonus for the wonder). But then I thought- if you destroy AW there is gonna be no heal and that's it. Plus the bonus 10%HP for an army at Enlightenment Age is a massive bonus tbh. However, if u destroy Versailles the SLOW IS STILL THERE(Kind OP).

My Base- I think I couldn't come up with anything better(considering the fact that I had to place Versailles somewhere to get maximum effectiveness from it). Of course people have different opinions, but I strongly advise you to try something similar to me. The base layout served me well. I got wiped by lvl 115-127 Enlightenment Age players but there is a reason for Difference in more than 30 levels u know. Nobody from GP Age got more than 1 Market and 1 Mill, my other 2 would stay untouched(4 tactics used, gatling guns, and lvl 5+ general).

My personal advice is NOT TO RUSH, I know some people being lvl 65-75 who are already at Enlightenment age with Cardboard Walls(lvl 4-5). And with defences being really under-leveled. Make sure you max out all of your defensive buildings, try to max out the walls as much as you can. Because think about it- if you loot a lot you gonna upgrade a lot hence all the gold and food sitting there for 1d or 2 days(Medieval, GP ages upgrades timings). You only have 12 workers at Medieval-gotta wait a reasonable amount of time before starting your next upgrade. So, medal droppers, high ages can just raid you and fuck ur resources easily. So, yeah max out defences and walls. Forget about farms and caravans(useless waste of time). Even the game tells you-" The fastest way of getting resources so far is LOOTING"

Once you reach a new age always upgrade the blacksmith>your nation's unique unit>barracks. Better army> better loot>faster upgrades at the new age.

I think I said all I wanted to say for you my fellow Leaders.

Main point is to HAVE FUN, don't forget it.

Thank you, GENERALISSIMUS. Great info and great base design. I just got to GP age and was looking for a good layout. I think I'll use yours. :)

Forgot the medal point- I usually raid as 15 Guard Chevaliers, 2 pikeman and 1 cavalry raider to fill in all 95 slots of my army. It only works at the medal range of 200-700 I would say. Guard Chevaliers- because it grants minimal losses for the army, hence more attacks>more loot. 70k-100k gold,70k-100k food on average is good enough, so i am happy to raid the base if it's High Classical- Medieval-Low GP Age base with average walls. Don't bother looting a base with strong defences and high lvl walls that has a lot of sections of walls-may lose all of my heavy cavalry. Of course if this base has 200-300k each of food and gold I would most probably go all in with tactics maybe mercenaries and alliance troops(situational). And yeah it is a challenge which gives me fun. By the way love them rushed Enlightenment Ages bases with low lvl walls and defences-just completely destroy them(to teach them a lesson that rushing is BAD).

So yeah raiding them guys, going from 200 to 700 medals by looting weaker bases, once I reach 700 just medal drop back to 200 and start again. I know it is kinda boring sometimes but I am 100% sure I will do really well when BHG introduces Alliance Wars or something similar to that into the game. For now just building the might of my Nation and at Enlightenment Age gonna be kicking ass by both getting some good loot and getting high in medals.

Always move to the next age asap. Do not upgrade economy buildings unless theres nothing left to upgrade. Only upgrade defense buildings after your offense is maxed out. As soon as the next age is available take it the second your offense is maxed out.

Because you can only raid other players who are within one level of you (so if you are Medieval, you can raid players in the Classical or GP ages), it doesn't make a lot of sense to rush to the next age. If you do, you will be facing tougher opponents, and it will be harder to loot as much. You can max out your offense and then advance, but this leaves your base vulnerable to raids.

Stonehead,

Matchmaking system isn't working this way. You get matched by the number of medals...It can be lvl127 Enlightenment Age player who dropped his medals or Classical Age player.

I am happy you found it useful Empire.
With the GP Wonder tho, I might or might not change Versailles to Angkor Wat at Enlightenment Age with my Generals being lvl 10+...I am kinda realising now that the heal is gonna be not just strong but insane..20% of lets say lvl 10 Alexander(which is 18-19K hp i think)...almost 4k hp heal every 3 seconds. Very strong....Especially when you research the ability to have 2 generals activated simultaneously.

But it is a long way to get there,

So i think versailles is good for now:)

GENERALISSIMUS: Yes, although the heal is really useful, personally, for now, I prefer the attack and defense benefits that Versailles offers. 40% slowdown for attacking troops and 10% HP bonus for both defending and attacking troops is too good to pass up. However, right now I'm Chinese. Thinking of switching to French or Greeks for the Unique HC. With Versailles bonus and blessings along with Supply Trains to heal them, they will be mighty and tough to take down.

The Ankor Wat radius´ is quite huge. Definitly much bigger than the Acroplos. Just to clearify the fact you didnt know this.
