I have been a fan of the updates so far. I appreciate not being decimated by 160 atomic exploiters with elephants, as a maxed out CWA. I think it has put the brakes on p2w in the sense that at the highest levels, the stronger defenses negate a lot of the power of the paid troop tactics. If I go 3D7, a max CWA has to get lucky to get 3 stars on me with 4 hardcore paid troop cards. At least the war museum is random, buying EA was a definitive advantage over others for money and guaranteed five against almost anyone.
I bet if you spent the $100 or so on the current artifact sale, you'd get a bunch of trash artifacts that boost garbage stats like redoubt hp. Once the current event ends, war artifacts will get much rarer, which makes it even more price prohibitive to obtain that "+11% All Defensive Towers" x5 artifact... I will change my appraisal of the updates if they start selling them directly for money.

I wondered why they focused on defense when the two most persistent issues brought up here and on reddit are hackers and world war matchmaking. Along with many of you, I felt like the community wasn't being heard.
I think I understand it now. Hackers and exploiters who obtain unlimited EA, sherman crab tanks, spies and heavy tank troop tactics drive revenue by making war in the top 150 much more difficult on offense and defense. This, in turn, causes whales to spend on premium TT, to crown new uni research, new armory research, and now buy museum chests to get war artifacts. The matchmaking "problems" are only problems to the posters, not the company because putting f2p players up against hackers/whales drives spending.
It's not that they don't hear you, it's that your problems with the game are profit points that raise revenue to keep the game going...
