Starting a new alliance is difficult at best. I started one awhile ago and I’m still on my own.

It used to be easier before Wars and lots of other additions.
Its not until you get about 15-20 members these days that things start to kick off and natural members start to flood in.
Your best bet would be to find an alliance you enjoy being a part of and play with them, you will also benefit from the perks of an alliance, being able to chat with other like minded people who may be able to offer advice and of course the extra alliance gate troops for raiding really help.
Many alliance are almost dead, some are in the middle, some are up their own arses and expect you to install certain software, jump up and down on one leg and put your finger on your nose.
So its just a matter of having a little look around. When externally viewing alliances, pay attention to last login dates (you dont want an inactive leader and coleaders or you can never do world wars) you might also want to note the donations for lifetime and this season, this helps you understand how old and active an alliance is.
Glory score again when looking at lifetime donations for ageing idea can help you understand how effective they are at winning wars. But unfortunately it doesnt tell you how anal they are.
