If you leave someone else Leader you can. Do NOT leave as Leader as nobody else will ever be able to be Leader there. Your alliances is basically dead once you do that.

Yes, we have had leaders visit, I think they just appoint a new leader and stop by but I am not sure how this works. We have also had leaders come by with their second accounts to hang out, smell the unique odor of the hobbit hole, taste our delicious cuisine, try to get some sleep while hungry zombies loudly discuss partitioning of their body parts and then run away to fight another day....

but alliances get very jumpy when their leaders jump out for a bit so be very clear about why and timeframe
