DomiNations has had seven nations for its entire existence, so we're really excited to announce that we're adding an eighth nation in our next update! To help celebrate the game launching in much of Asia in the very near future, we are happy to announce that we will be adding Korea to the game!
Nation Powers
The Koreans will have two nation powers in DomiNations. The first, the power of ingenuity, will allow the Koreans to have an additional War Tactic in battle above the limit of every other nation. Considering how few War Tactics players are allowed to take into battle, this will be a huge advantage in the hands of a skilled player who is well versed in their use.
Their second nation power will be the power of resilience. This will allow Korean players to be refunded 10% of all loot stolen by other players. This power should appeal to players who want to play more defensively or save up for the more powerful upgrades with less fear of their resources being stolen.
Unique Units
The Koreans will join the British and Chinese as nations with unique Archers. While the British Longbowmen fire further and the Chinese Chu Ko Nu fire faster, Korean archers will do 40% more damage.
In Iron Age, the Korean unique unit will be the Hwarang. Historically the Hwarang was an elite group of youths that defended the Silla kingdom of Korea from its rivals. They learned martial arts and followed many Buddhist precepts. They were also trained in many other skills, including archery. In DomiNations, they will upgrade to the Elite Hwarang and Royal Hwarang in Classical Age and Medieval Age respectively.
In Gunpowder Age, the Korean unique unit will become the Singijeon (which becomes the Heavy Singijeon in Enlightenment Age). Historically a singijeon was used during the Josean Dynasty of Korea. The smallest size was a fire arrow, which was just a gunpowder-propelled arrow. A larger sized arrow was used with the hwacha, which could fire 200 of them at once. This was an essential weapon in the defense of Korea against Japan in the Imjin War.
In Industrial Age, the Korean unique unit will become the Righteous Rifleman. Righteous armies have risen up to fight off foreign invaders throughout the course of Korean history. Coming from various social classes, they were irregular fighters who would harass occupying forces until they withdrew.
We've been playing as the Koreans a lot internally, and we hope everyone else will have as much fun with them as we have!
