Is this normal?

The game keeps going all black and returning me to my home screen at random intervals. Usually the game runs fine when I'm only at my base, but when I'm raiding the crash is really annoying because I lose all my troops and have to wait fifteen minutes to train them again.

At least I get to keep the loot I stole, but I could have stolen more, and raided sooner had I not crashed.

Got the same problem. The game crashes during attacks. Just downloaded the latest update and the game is installed on the phones memory. Connection via wifi. Doesn't help.

What devices are you guys using?

Yes, I've seen quite a few threads about crashes using the forum search.

Looking at the threads, I get the impression (not sure if wrong or not) that most are related to the device. A few problematic devices are
  • iPad 2
  • iPhone 4s
  • iPad mini (1st gen); seems like no crashes on 3rd gen.
  • Motorola Moto E (1st gen)
  • Sony Xperia Z
  • Samsung Galaxy S4

I'm playing on Samsung Galaxy s3. I just checked the free memory in the task manager. Before starting the game, ~ 300mb free. While the game is running ~ 90mb free. After playing a bit, clicking through enemy bases and when it starts getting laggy, ~ 80mb free. I did not have that problem when i downloaded the game about a week ago. Only since i updated it.

Try to free up 500MB and see if that improves your situation -- that's the usually recommended amount of free memory we generally suggest having when playing the game.

Oh boy. Does that mean devices with 512 MB of RAM (so freeing up 500 MB is impossible because the OS uses up some) like iPad mini 1 and iPhone 4s won't be able to play this without lagging and crashing?

I have had this problem recently on the Samsung Galaxy S4, but only after the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the S4.

I have 406MB free, but I can't free up more any more than that with my lackluster internal memory (1.5GB).

Would moving this app to my SD really increase crashes? That's the only way I can think to clear up more memory.
