New event type to add more troop diversity and balance to the game

Most events currently offer resource discounts on upgrades. I wanted to propose a new event type, that will make attack strategies more interesting, enable Nexon to test/balance troops more effectively, and reduce bitter (but fair) complaints from other players that troop balance is out of whack.

We typically have a discount event start on Tuesdays and run 1 week. What if we also had a weekly event that changes stats slightly for a week for a single unit? For example, to celebrate Glenn Curtis, planes could have +10% HP buff for a week. To celebrate the invention of a machine gun, Machine Gun Troop could have +1 range for a week. To celebrate the invention of anti-missile RADAR technology, Missile Silo damage could be reduced by 50% for a week. As you can see, both positive and negative buffs can be applied to the units during this period, depending on Nexon's decision.

This would encourage players to try new combinations, and for Nexon to quickly test which modification work well and which don't without having to make a permanent decision. As a result, I'm hoping that Nexon won't stall with troop balance changes for months, and players will be more happy. Moreover, this would encourage all of us to vary our troop selection, it would even encourage us to be more strategic about which troop cards and mercenaries we pick to balance out our current army.

This is a great idea! BHG could have play tested the tactical helicopter nerf, before making the unit permanently pointless.

Good thinking melheor , but playing devils advocate, would it necessarily tell Nexon which troop we prefer? In all likelihood, once the event is over, and the benefit of the unit is gone, most people might just go back to their preferred combo?

They do have replays, it's not about which troop we prefer but about watching how attacks play out and observing unit synergies that appear. For example, APC made previously crappy foot solider useful again. Archers balance howitzers well. Through these events new synergies may become apparent as a unit is beefed up, or maybe even ideas for new units to fill a gap. It also would be interesting to see potential counters to the seemingly overpowered units, they may be simpler than we think. What if one week Nexon changed the range of all towers to +1, would that counter British archer spam? What if they temporarily made it so that archers couldn't shoot over walls (i.e. Great Wall of China event), would that help? Basically it's a petri-dish for all the ideas we've already been discussing. Maybe they would work, maybe they wouldn't and Nexon already tried them in their dev environment? At least then we'd be able to see it for ourselves and stop complaining. Because let's be honest, it's easy to notice imbalance, but the solution that may seem obvious may not always play out as planned on the battlefield. Did anyone foresee TH being so good at raiding oil?

Actually, think its best idea on this forum I have ever seen so far! Buffing or maybe nerfing some current barracks/factory units or even tactics, in time of 1-2 weeks, developers are putting us in position to become their game testers through different events. And after that test period, we can give our opinion regarding that nerf/buff, and maybe they can make permanent change on that specific unit or tactic.
Developers should definitely adopt this idea!
