Planes going rogue

I'm sure this has been mentioned before but I need to vent so here goes;
I'm getting quite frustrated when my plane (or planes as is more often the case) go awol when their target is destroyed before they get to it. If I target a mortar with my planes but it gets destroyed by my ground troops while they are flying towards it, the planes decide to zig zag over literally every air defence the base has got and, if they survive, randomly choose themselves a new target to shoot, like a farm or a pile of gold.
Surely they should either shoot the ground where their target was before it got destroyed (like the Zeppelin does) or immediately turn around and return to base to receive new orders - an easy fix I would have thought?

It's not wrong, just using AI to determine next target. I agree its frustrating but I try to guard against this by hitting target that is not being attacked by other troops. I also tend to hold planes back and mop up enemy tanks etc.

This is not a solution, if u send 3 triplanes (6hits) to take down a target that requires 5hits the last triplane will be doomed in the same way
Too bad almost all buildings require 3 or 5 hits after university hp upgrades which always get on of ur triplanes stuck

Agreed motaz, in fact the university upgrades make things even harder because there is no visible way to know if building's hit points have been raised through research, therefore it is impossible to know how many hits from planes a building will need before it is destroyed...
