Would a 'Rally' command per attacking unit type be something worth considering? Or too much? Thoughts?

that would be great. or maybe you could preselect squads that can be deployed like the merc camp, with one flag, and then to rally that squad, just place their flag in a new spot.

Actually Gambrinus, that's a perfect idea. It allows a good dose of strategy by allowing people to control armies, as well as making it balanced by having a cool down for the rally. the Devs could make it so that by the iron age, players are able to build a new building that allows the creation of specific formations that the player can define (ie. 10 infantry, 5 archers, and 2 cav) and designate it to a flag, on the battlefield when the flag is dropped the troops come out in that formation specified and go on their raiding ways, and to rally them do what you say and place the flag somewhere else.

seems that we already have 3 barracks, so why not have each one of those be the formation point of each squad? anyway, new building are cool too, just something to think about.

tbh, I would like each barrack to hold a flag, however it might be cumbersome as perhaps you only want to deploy a certain amount of infantry, not all of them, or you want to deploy 1 cav and a few archers, not all your cav and archers. With my idea, people can create specific combos that they can deploy in hopes of achieving efficiency.

I would like to echo the thoughts of all of the posts above my own. Devs, please add this feature! (Or something similar)

The whole "Clash of Clans" drop troops and let them target their "specified target unit" idea is lame and doesn't really work well. (Artificial Intelligence is STUPID and will ALWAYS be STUPID. Computers are just really, really, REALLY fast calculators you and I both know this.)

Classic games like Age of Empires II and RON let you select whatever troops you wanted and assign them to "hotkeys". For example: like CTRL + 1 would be all of your infantry and CTRL + 2 would be your archers. Granted, this is a mobile game and we don't have the luxury of using a mouse to select specific units like that, but there are other ways of doing this.

Adding any of the features mentioned above would be entering a NEW REALM to RTS mobile games. It would define DomiNations.

The Rally button and the troops returning home if all defensive buildings were defeated were two defining characteristics of DomiNations that got me playing it instead of CoC. Sure the CoC formula of dropping your units and letting them go is nice and all, but adding the above feature would grant the user/gamer with THAT MUCH MORE control of the battle. More interaction and less watching. More tactical gameplay and less of a "mass 60 infantry and 20 archers and just watch them fight and hope they win feel to the game." You could even put the rally on a timer per unit type. It would have epic gameplay and it would have a system similar to Grandia III's rotation battle system.
