Switch to Pay to Win is Killing the Game

It seems clear now that the nature of the game has become pay to win. If speed is the critical decider I or anyone can buy tactics from Marco Polo which can increase the speed of a five star attack. EVEN IF A PLAYER IS CERTAIN TO GET FIVE STARS, IT MAKES SENSE FOR THEM TO BUY TACTICS BECAUSE THAT WILL SPEED UP THE WIN.

I think this is such a radical change that it will impact how players feel about the game. For instance is it worthwhile continuing to play War if most players in an alliance don't pay and so they lose increasingly often?

If so then the War side of the game will increasingly shrink to being between alliances with players who are willing to pay to win while the rest will either abandon the game or simply avoid playing war leaving it to the price insensitive segment of the market. Whether the resulting shrinkage in the pool of players will then kill War or even the game is something I can only guess at but I do believe it's now become far more likely. Give it another week or two and it should be clear how players are responding. I for one am out of wars now.

Losing wars is "expensive" for me. Add up the cost of troops donated to war bases, coalitional national trade goods, (about 40 per war), and the troop tactics, (potentially 8 per war), plus the replacement cost in food and oil of troops lost in battles, and this comes to MUCH more than the loot earned from a loss and even a win often doesn't compensate.

One might be motivated by playing war for "glory" points but if one is in an alliance where most allies don't or can't buy additional troops, when one faces opponents who do one's team is likely to lose. There are only one hundred teams on the leaderboard. Most will be or are already teams that are paying to win. So non-P2W alliances have little chance getting there. Meaning "playing war for glory" now becomes pointless for most.

The only other reason for playing war is for loot. But as I said the cost-benefit of doing that has now changed; the costs have gone up significantly and the benefits have declined. Hence my conclusion that War has little appeal now. My alliance team mates and I can have the camaraderie and fun without it.

Indeed. War loot needs to be doubled and alliance leagues need to be introduced. To claim 32 million downloads but to have an alliance leaderboard for only 5000 people, at most, is absurd.

Granted, I have a hard time believing more than a million people actually play this game with any frequency, but even then the lone alliance leaderboard represents 0.5% of that.

When i know we are going to lose a war, i never waste my troops on attacking any base i wont easily 5 star. Im not going to waste an hour of raiding time to train those troops again when i can raid 10x the amount of resources id get from that losing effort just raiding that entire time.

The only thing i care about from wars is oil. If it wasnt for oil i wouldnt even participate in wars, at least after i get the 2k crowns from the war stars achievement.

I posted this days ago... maybe a week... and it's still on page three. A year ago it would have disappeared into oblivion by now due to the volume of posts. So it looks like the Forums are much less active too. Nexon is killing its own game. Sad.

Our alliance are now less active in WW (1-2 war per week vs continuous WW before and the fact is less and less members take part in war). Think we wl quit WW soon. We hv seen frequently max AA defensive bases destroyed less than 1.30 mins. Without P2W, it's hard to believe that. Nothing to strive for in war, only raid & base decoration. Cash for virtual glory not make sense to us.

If you see maxed out AA bases (assuming they are well designed and with maxed out defensive coalitions) destroyed that quickly you can be pretty sure that the opponent is exploiting one or multiple hacks. Some players have been exposed (and banned, I think) already, including some from Jakarta Folks and some from other Indonesian alliances.

Good People, for instance, recently lost at least one war due to these cheaters. It's clear that Nexon doesn't have the time, energy, or qualifications to do enough about it. If this becomes even more widespread, it will be the death of DomiNations.

Anyone that you feel may be cheating, please report them to support and/or myself. I have no issue banning someone for cheating.
