Ch0s3nByG0dz had something simular when I had a timeout (spinning wheel) at the end of my battle. Waited until the results where send. Was a valid attack no wierd things. Only the attack time was long.
the results where send 5 seconds before the timeout would ended.

Its likey Berend_War is correct that waiting for a server sync could have extended the battle timer, but it could be something else as well.
