What I’d like to see are DoniNation alliance tournaments with live streams. Where alliances play for incentives, cash and/or in-game bonuses. Clash of Clans are doing this. I truly believe this will invigorate the game. Something totally achievable with the clampdown on cheating.
On a side note, BHG might want to consider the concept of micro transactions. Again something CoC do very well at. People who have cheated in the past, and floated to the top of the game, have done major long term harm to the game, which I don’t think anyone can deny. I’m sure I’m not alone in this, but I refuse to pay to win against these players, especially with the high cost of in game purchases. I’ve considered leaving the game several times in the past as a result of this. I’ve lost count of alliance members and friends who have left the game for these very reasons. Instead, I’ve adapted my playing style, but still refuse to pay despite BHG’s great efforts in stemming the cheating. I would only consider paying these prices if offenders had their bases rolled back or having their bases deleted. Ideally the latter.
To summarise, I think BHG sitting back and allowing the cheating to last as long as it did, while continuously rolling out new features against the will of the community was a mistake, and has depreciated the value of the game. The in game purchases need to reflect that. It’s still a great game with many years of life remaining, but the business model needs to change accordingly. Players have all had to adapt; BHG and Nexon would do well to do the same.
