We are all aware that the university chapters do take time to complete but, what if the game developers added a similar feature to that of the library and forge. A second slot to allow you to do more than one “aspect of knowledge” in a given tree? Thoughts on this idea?

Rise of Nations had a separate allotment of "Scholars" that you had to earn before you could use the uni. I think this is what the uni needs, the ability to earn in some way scholars that you can have in your uni separate from you citizen count.

It is a great idea, but I think it is the structure itself that won't allow you to do that. You can upgrade two different characters in university simultaneously, but you cannot upgrade two chapters of the same character at the same time. The same is for armory, you can upgrade raiders and planes (with the second slot), but you cannot upgrade raiders and mortars at the same time.
Correct me if I'm wrong but implementing your idea would change the whole approach to upgrades.

I agree with no angels about citizens, no citizens should be needed for university upgrades like for library or armory, but not for XP.
XP points are given only upon buildings upgrade, only exception is library. Units upgrades do not provide XP and so the univeristy does...

i believe you can build raiders and mortars if you like. There is no restriction on that

Yes, you can upgrade two similar types of unit in the armory. Two generals at same time or shooters and infantry etc.

within the same tab? Even with the second slot I'm not sure you can upgrade two generals at the same time...but maybe I'm wrong...will doublecheck
