I believe that I have found an issue with the game matching system.
I quote from your Nexon:
"How is strength calculated in a World War?
Strength is based on each member’s attacking power (Troops and Barracks upgrades, War Tactics and Generals) and defensive strength (defense buildings, walls, traps, and generals). Base layout does not affect this calculation. The only way a member’s strength can be increased is if they upgrade their troops, defenses, war tactics, or other contributing offensive and defensive capabilities."
The issue is this.
Walls count towards defence capacity in war.
However to achieve 5 star victories walls do not need to be destroyed. They can simply be breached in a couple locations while remaining largely intact.
In my alliance players have literally spent months upgrading walls. I myself have a minimum of level 11 walls and quite a few level 12 walls while only being at industrial level for a few weeks.
However my defence troops and defence buildings are only at enlightenment level with the exception of a few that are now at industrial level.
That is the situation of many in our alliance.
Because we have such high level walls our defence is rated higher. But the reality is that we lack the defensive fire power and troops to fight off the mostly Atomic and Global age players that we are matched with.
So what can be done?
Either change the game so that all walls need to be destroyed to achieve 5 stars and increase the number of troops we are able to train on each level in our barracks to make 5 star victories still possible.
Or simply keep walls as they are but do not count them in defense since walls do not need to be destroyed to achieve 5 stars.
I feel this would go a long way in preventing Atomic and Global Age players with level 7 & 8 walls being matched up with industrial and enlightenment players with level 11 & 12 walls.
Attacking someone with cavalry and cannon just doesn't cut it when they have a missile silo and heavy tanks defending.
My alliance has suffered 13 straight defeats in war due to these mismatches.
But our walls are as strong as they have ever been and we continue to be progress with other upgrades. Greater defence in the form of strong walls really does not provide anything in world wars. They remain standing while everything else is destroyed.
In wars they are only a slight obstacle to opposition.
At best walls simply prevent more people stealing my oil in multiplayer battles.
Just like Generals can now spawn from the fort even if it is destroyed, there needs to be greater reason to invest so much time and resources into walls.
Perhaps they can have some defensive firepower? Maybe one in every 10 wall pieces can also act like a tower in defense?
I am sure the DomiNations community can come up with many good ideas.
