What’s the point of the training blessing now? Since it does affect planes...

I don't know when it stopped being useless. Probably one of the best things around. Obviously not for planes but it works on the factory troops as well. Unless you're using an army of planes only, I don't see the bad. Use the air blessing that increases their health but other than that, can't help you. Most people have bought the troop chest which has 2 training blesses in there.

Just another view point. Since the Training Blessing doesn't apply to planes, I've got into the habit of attacking in multi-player battles without planes (similar to how I don't use mercenaries or tactics for multi-player battles). And, I'm personally finding it helping me get better at attacking without relying on planes. It's kind of like practicing battles on hard mode in multi-player.
But, again, I'm not climbing medals, and I keep them moderately low, so, this might not apply to those climbing medals.
Maybe, something to consider.
Cheers and happy gaming! :)

It's not just planes, it's tactics, too, as (with tactic blessing) it takes at least 1 hour, while the barracks/factory troops take 15-30 minutes. I think training times are fine. For faster aircraft training Pentagon wonder would help
